I don't buy it, both for the amount and the idea a person could be dead for 6 months in an apartment and no one in the building would notice that kind of decay.

You'd have to have some seriously f***ed up magazines to reach 6 tons. Like, you'd probably have to have every fetish imaginable to make that amount. Have you ever seen a porno magazine rack in Japan? It's seriously f***ed up from top to bottom.

There was a guy that died in the woods behind a dollar store near me and within a couple days, the area smelled like dead fish for several hundred yards or so

The thing is he was 50, that almost 40 years of collecting, and assuming he was some kind of hoarder and didn't throw anything out, I can see him having 6 tons of stuff.

I figure he died happy. A magazine fell onto his face and the centre spread was a girl with huge tatas.

Alright, I just did some research. I have a shoebox full of various magazines (all glossy-stock pages). I just weighed it on my bathroom scale and it was 20 pounds.
Six tons equals 12,000 pounds. So if we divide that by 20, we get 600.
Thus, this guys would have had the equivalent of 600 shoeboxes of magazine. You could probably fit that in a small apartment, but it wouldn't give him much space to move around.

Yeah this story is most likely bullshit but if I somehow ended up dying due being crushed by a huge pile of jazz mags.
I would be fine with that.

I like that the learners wanted to save the family from embarrassment. If they cared, don't you think they would have been concerned that they hadn't seen or heard from him in six months?

Take this story with a grain of salt. The Daily Mail is so unreliable that Wikipedia won't allow it to be used as a source of reliable information for editing pages. If they were TRULY unreliable, then Wikipedia wouldn't even allow the Daily Mail to have their own page on the site.

Still a pretty interesting story on its own-sounds like a story that just got passed along and got out of control

Of course it was. The Daily Mail is our answer to Fox News.
