Groundhog Day
- To be honest this isn't really a movie I've ever especially wanted to watch.
- Odd choice to have two consecutive Columbia Pictures credits.
- HSN still seems like a vast improvement over local news.
- The TV was showing part of the opening credits? That's. . . confusing.
- Gotta give it that so far this movie's got a pretty great soundtrack.
- Phil's kind of riding that perfect line so far of being a dick but entertaining about it.
- Kind of helps that it's not really hard to see why he finds a lot of these people annoying.
- I feel like Al Roker's more famous.Punxsutawney Phil.
- Yeah, kind of having the issue early on I was sort of expecting with the premise where Phil doesn't really come off bad enough to warrant going through this kind of hell.
- Can already kind of tell going to be a movie I have trouble finding things to comment on.
- To be fair, yeah, being more actively an asshole now but it's his third time living this day, who wouldn't be freaking out in this situation?
- Producers are known for resolving time loops?
- Wow, that must be the world's most open schedule for a psychiatrist.
- As the conversation goes seeing why the guy's schedule is so open.
- This seems pretty early in to jump to, "Do something that could feasibly result in my brutal death."
- Yeah, think I've kind of run out of stuff to say about the movie, not really given me anything to work with for about 20 minutes now.
- So what are the mechanics of the time loop anyway, does it loop when it hits a certain time or when he goes to sleep?
- Heh, "That's not true, I don't even like myself!" is a pretty great counter to that.
- I guess that answers the question of it being a time thing judging by continuing to see things happen in a given day after he dies.
- I'm enjoying the movie for the record, just not a lot standing out to talk about. Like the diner scene naming off random facts about everyone scene quite a bit.
- I feel like I should've worked in a Majora's Mask or Endless Eight joke by now.
- Oh, it's when the clock hits six, alrighty.
- Joke's on you, this movie came out in 1993, that's WrestleMania 9. Have fun with the Bret / Yokozuna / Hogan shit!
- The looking out the window to see snow bit really does have a good, "Yeah! Finally!" kind of feel to it.
- Honestly after that experience I'd probably be doing everything I could to never come to this town again, growing to like it and the people there be damned. Be terrified something like this would happen again.
Conclusions: Liked it, didn't love it. I'd probably be on board with seeing it again some time but while there's a lot to like it wasn't really a favorite. Nothing I'd specifically point to wrong with it, just didn't really click with me as well as its reputation suggests, y'know?
Keeping up with the inexplicable time travel / loop theme I've lately fallen into, next up is Star Trek 4.
