The MITB would be better if they just had innovative ideas with it. Heel MITB winner wins the Royal Rumble toos...basically has 2 chances at WrestleMania.
Or the MITB could win the title without the briefcase.

What I don't get is when someone runs down to cash in the champion should just punch him in the dick and take the DQ loss.

It de-legitimized the difficulty of knocking off the champion by ensuring anyone could get the belt regardless of how kayfabe strong/weak they were. Don’t get me wrong, Edge cashing in was amazing back in the day, but the concept got stale, and the whole gimmick created too many unbelievable champions like Dolph and Swagger. Agreed. It's annoying that I can't enjoy genuine moments because I'm too busy thinking about if someone is going to cash in. Edge's first cash was good albeit Cena was far too strong. RVD's was good for doing what needs to be done most of the time in terms of how people should cash in. While Punk's were more of the same, at least there was an underlying story between his two cash in's. And Seth's was classic for doing it on the biggest stage and changing the match. Every other cash in has been dull and followed the same formula almost every single time. On top of that, it's also helped devalue the title by winning it in such a pathetic fashion so many times. There are so many ways to get the belt on a guy without needing to do the "shocking cash in". I think Dean and Mizs cash ins were dope too. Dean finally getting revenge on Rollins after 2 years, and all three shield members being champ in one night, and the Mizs because it was a Mini match

The thing is there are still plenty of things you could use Money in the Bank for but they just don't do. There's been nobody, besides the Kennedy tease and Rollins, who's opted to cash-in to headline Mania. There's not been a story where the champion pre-emptively takes out the person who has Money in the Bank in the hopes of trying to prevent them from using it. There's not been one where whoever has it is coming up on the contract expiring and is potentially going to have to settle for cashing in in a straight match but not wanting to. There's not been an offscreen or house show cash-in. There's not been one where when cashed in on the champion responds by getting himself DQed. There's not been whoever has Money in the Bank putting a bounty out on the champion that whoever softens him up gets first dibs on a title match or something. Just tons of little stuff like that they could do with it and just don't.

Closest I remember to any of this would be when Daniel Bryan cashed in on Mark Henry, who wasn't cleared to compete and thus the match and cash in never happened.
