Why is everyone so afraid to stand up to JBL? I can't figure that out. Probably a combination of him being a tough guy who was also in tight with even tougher guys. Thats the mindset that people that get bullied usually have and it makes no sense. They are already harming you physically, what are they going to do thats worse? Its not like he will beat you to death or anything. Punsh him in the throat and say back off. There is nothing to worry about aslong you are not fighting a pro.

How long was Justin Roberts with the company? Legitimately shocked to read an interaction with Benoit. He was around from the early 2000s, I wanna say 04, up until 2014. Wow I didn't realize he was around that long.

What's your point exactly? Just because that's the case doesn't mean we shouldn't call this abuse out and say it's wrong now. Agreed. However JBL, Benoit, Holly, and others were from a generation where this sort of thing was second nature. You have to naive to think that this shit didn't happen in the 80s and 90s. Hell, X-Pac used to shit in Rock's sandwiches back in the day. Of course this behavior is carrying over and will do so when all the old timers leave. I agree that it is wrong and has no place for it today, I was just explaining where it was coming from. No, I know, I thought you were implying something else. My apologies.

Remember that time Stevie Richards swung the chair like a baseball bat at JBL's head over the whole JBL punching Blue Meanie at One Night Stand. Stevie's a good guy.

So hear I am just chilling and waiting for my flight, when all of a sudden 2 guys tackle 1 man to the ground and both apply a crossface. The man taps out but there was no referee in sight so they wouldn't let go of him.
Then I boarded my flight.

With some of the stuff you hear about what's gone on involving JBL, I'm surprised there aren't more stories of people who've left WWE admitted to bouts of depression. Bullying is a repulsive activity and without a support network around you it can drive people to dark places that some can't come back from. If even half of this is true I feel sorry for Justin Roberts because no one deserves to be treated like that. JBL's attitude both publicly and privately seems to be one of an entitled, arrogant bully. In most other organisations he'd have been run out of town, but I suppose it pays to be friends with the boss.

Why is everyone so afraid to stand up to JBL? I can't figure that out. Because it usually makes things considerably worse. Jackyl stood up to JBL and ended up being persecuted for it, having to change for shows in his car, and even that wasn't enough for him, and Bradshaw had the Hardys break the locks of his car so he couldn't even do that.

I really do believe there's going to be a day when someone of clout picks up on JBL's bullshit and turns it into a thing. We saw it with Bill DeMott, and we could very easily see it here. Unfortunately though, this kind of stuff won't stop while Vince is in charge. I mean, this is a guy who regularly made fun of JR's Bell's Palsy, including a... really uncomfortable backstage segment where he mocked him. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince gets a kick out of treating others like shit.

Hey Justin's dad It's Chris Benoit, I've been on the road with Justin lately and while I had him locked in a crippler crossface at JFK airport he told me you had just finished up treatment this week. Be great to hear how you're doing, so give me a call back sometime. Thanks, Chris.

Really, if you want a business where people are rewarded for virtue and niceness, watch something else. You do know I've gone on about the bullying issues not only in the mainstream, but how indy performers act towards their workers and their fans.

I feel like Chris Benoit was that guy who gives you shit if he really likes you, but doesn't know how to communicate that. But also, unfortunately, didn't know when to stop, likely for any number of reasons. Not apologizing, but the Benoit stories aren't like the JBL ones. There's ones where he's a terrifying dude, but then there's also Chris calling to check on your dad when he had cancer, etc etc. I know this is all gonna just get shot down because wrestling fans largely only color Benoit in one light, but just throwing that out there.

People crap on the Kliq days, but goddamn I don't think I would've liked working Smackdown at a time when they had Benoit, JBL, Holly and Eddie. All of them seemed extremely high strung, looking for reasons to put anyone in their place, being stiff for no reason and just overall being miserable.

Nah,I agree. That was probably the case. In regards to JBL it really all is coming off as an insecure guy who bullies. I'm all for ribbing and giving friends shit, but this JBL stuff comes off as extreme.

Apparently I'm not sensitive enough to adult bullying, because I'm having a hard time feeling bad for Justin. Maybe it's because I've heard negative stuff about him as well, or maybe it's because it feels like a cash-in opportunity. I always have a hard time buying salacious memoirs as it is, because you know the point is to move books. There's the accuser's take, the accused's take, and the truth is somewhere in between.
It sucks that that type of behavior still exists. I could have been considered a bully a number of times as a kid, but I can't understand the notion to just constantly act like an asshole to someone as a full-fledged adult. We're still dealing with the leftover attitude from the previous generations ideas of what manhood is and what it means to be "tough". The sooner we get out of that bullshit old school mentality, the better.
I just don't understand the idea behind being deliberately hateful. Whether that be with JBL picking on Justin Roberts, or the way we talk about the wrestlers we don't like online. I don't hate JBL or I won't say "f*** you JBL" because he allegedly acts like a dickhead... I say "grow up, JBL. Be cool to one another."

I'm usually one for the "two sides" thing, and know some people have put stories out there that are total bullshit. But when it comes to the stuff about JBL, there's too much out there for it to all be false. Maybe some of it is sensationalized, but there's too much out there for him to not be a shitstarter. I'm kinda stunned there never was a run-in between him and Simon Gotch, if the stories on Gotch having a major ego trip are even half true (unless there was some backstage incident I'm missing). That's also not the first times I've heard Regal and Jericho were good eggs. Jericho's MO has always seemed to be if you have a clue about the business and how to conduct yourself, you're to be respected. I've heard stories of him being a jerk, but there's always been a "Yeah, but you DID..." or "But who tells someone..." aspect to it. He seems like a nicer CM Punk; same philosophy but with a decent amount of leeway...unlike Punk had. Ditto to Regal. I've heard very few bad stories about him, especially from once he got clean onwards. Sucks Justin had it so hard. I wonder if Chimel or Lillian had it that tough. Surely Fink didn't...though I'd love to hear some of his stories too from his time. The more stories I read and hear about Regal the more I like him. There's another story in Daniel Bryan's book where he told off Ezekiel Jackson when he was trying to big league Bryan, who was a rookie in WWE at the time, and bully him into giving up his better seat on an airplane. Also in Mr. Kennedy's shoot he talked about an instance where a bunch of guys were talking crap about a guy who wasn't well liked in the locker room with Kennedy joining in. Regal overheard it and pulled him aside and told him that he's better then that and not to get involved in that petty bs. Just seems like a super stand up guy who has no tolerance for the frat boy hazing crap that goes on in the locker room.

The fate of the Hardyz might be JBL's most nefarious act. Supposedly they didn't so much as even drink until JBL relentlessly pressured them into it.
