When I was younger, the team I was on at work was all at a conference. Our boss at the time was obsessed with having breakfast together & going over schedules etc for the day. One guy slept through the breakfast. Our boss was annoyed, but it wasn't a big deal. Someone (I never found out who) ordered wake up calls for the guy who missed the meeting on the hours of 2,3, and 4 the next night.
Fast forward to when we got back to our office, everyone on the team, including me got a call from HR telling us if we knew who the person who sent the wake up calls was and didn't come forward that we were violating our company's business conduct code and we had to print and attest to the written anti-harassment and bullying policies.
I thought it was over the top & asked our boss why they were taking it so far. He simply told me that the guy was embarrassed enough, that missing the meeting was something between them and that it was more unprofessional for peers to mock someone over a mistake than it was for him to make the mistake. He was exactly right.

JBL has far to many stories out there to make me believe that he a bully until you stand up to him. This goes back many years and I still remember the story about Joey Styles in the mid 00s. When he had enough of JBL and fight him. The passport story is just wrong. That isn't a rib when you don't give it back and have to go through that hell to get a new one and cost him money.

Along with claiming that Justin Roberts is an idiot who was hated by everyone (without specifying why) he's up to his usual routine of blocking anyone on Twitter even vaguely critical of him. For a supposed tough guy, he's quite a coward.

Probably a combination of him being a tough guy who was also in tight with even tougher guys. "Tough guy". He's a paper tiger who only punches down on people he knows can't or won't punch back. it's worth noting that you never hear stories about him kicking someone's ass or picking on them when they're as big as or bigger than him.

Bear with me on this, but isn't it kind of baffling that JBL seems to genuinely admire The Undertaker, and hold him in the greatest esteem? I don't understand how JBL could truly idolize The Undertaker, but then betray every one of the man's principles and "true leadership" traits? Just seems like a sociopathic or sadistic or something - the man knows better.

So was Roberts' book just released this week? Is that why all this is coming out now?

The more that comes out about JBL the more I'm glad I was able to personally meet and shake Stevie Richards hand and say "Thank you for that chairshot, that was awesome".

Now they'll pretend to care since it hurts their image. That's how you know someone or a company's true character - will they address the problem themselves, or will they wait until something blows up and makes them look bad? The WWE only does things for optics. They won't do anything about anything unless they feel it will hurt their brand's perception. If enough people give them shit for this, then maybe they will act on it.

Jaime Noble and Chris Benoit once tackled Justin down to the ground in the airport and put him in a double crossface. He tapped instantly but they refused to release him. He could barely walk for days afterwards.
Gee, I'm shocked, especially about the 2nd guy in this.

Im doing the mental images, but I'm not picturing the connection.

Not that I'm an expert with wrestling holds, but I imagine if it's done incorrectly (or correctly, depending on your POV) the pressure it could put on your back could be devastating to walking, or just doing anything most likely.

While not his idea, that wrestler's court bullshit which was often little more than an excuse for the veterans to push the new guys around was something he ran in cahoots with JBL for years.

I'm usually one for the "two sides" thing, and know some people have put stories out there that are total bullshit. But when it comes to the stuff about JBL, there's too much out there for it to all be false. Maybe some of it is sensationalized, but there's too much out there for him to not be a shitstarter. I'm kinda stunned there never was a run-in between him and Simon Gotch, if the stories on Gotch having a major ego trip are even half true (unless there was some backstage incident I'm missing). That's also not the first times I've heard Regal and Jericho were good eggs. Jericho's MO has always seemed to be if you have a clue about the business and how to conduct yourself, you're to be respected. I've heard stories of him being a jerk, but there's always been a "Yeah, but you DID..." or "But who tells someone..." aspect to it. He seems like a nicer CM Punk; same philosophy but with a decent amount of leeway...unlike Punk had. Ditto to Regal. I've heard very few bad stories about him, especially from once he got clean onwards. Sucks Justin had it so hard. I wonder if Chimel or Lillian had it that tough. Surely Fink didn't...though I'd love to hear some of his stories too from his time. No need to hear two sides, as JBL has admitted to everything, and still genuinely believes it was in good fun. He says it was to toughen people up, but how does forcing someone who has to go to the embassy "toughen" anyone up? Benoit seemed bi-polar. Miz commented on Benoit bullying him at times, and then praising him when no one was looking. That, or Benoit's bullying stuff was just to make him look "cool" in front of everyone else. JBL is scum but sadly he's not the first bully in wrestling and he won't be the last. Back in the day HBK used to bully Vader all the time. He'd literally brokr character in the match and start kicking him screaming at him to move. Or maybe the guy (Benoit) who murdered his family was not entirely sane.

Wrestler's Court was more about backstage discipline and clearing the air. A little embarrassment, free beer and hopefully a chance to move on. Not trying to excuse if Taker did anything wrong, but he was not a sadistic ass the way JBL was and is, just old school. By the way, as an aside, am I the only stunned that the gif of JBL goose stepping in Germany hasn't popped up in this thread yet? Son of a bitch should burn in hell for that bull alone.

Nah, that "backstage discipline" stuff is BS. It was petty bullshit like "This young guy got a better seat on a plane than this veteran, PUNISH HIM!" nonsense. Maybe not active bullying, but certainly still in the realm of silly frat-boy bullshit.
