Charles is way more conniving than Jimmy could ever be.
Also Mike is the scariest kinda badass. One with patience. A LOT of patience.

As crooked as Jimmy/Saul is, Chuck is equally or even worse than his brother. I thought Saul would be super unsympathetic as a character on this show, but I pull for him against Chuck.

I really need to make the time to watch the show at some point. Liked Breaking Bad a lot when I finally got around to watching it but yet to make the time for Better Call Saul.

Did chuck intentionally let his assistant hear the tape? They insinuated that on Talking Saul. Gilligan and Gould kinda said that he always has a plan and wouldn't do that accidentally.

Did chuck intentionally let his assistant hear the tape? I thought so. What are the odds it'd be set to play and queued up to the EXACT moment Jimmy confesses the address. Plus Chuck gave a look afterwards that seemed to convey premeditation.

I'm guessing Chuck knows he can't extort him directly.

I was definitely under the impression that Chuck wanted Ernesto to near the tape. Man, Chuck is such a friggin snake in the grass.
Solid first episode. Mike was as badass as usual.

The tape is a trap to get further extort Jimmy or to get more sustenance evidence against him

See the thing is, we wouldn't have had the Saul we had in Breaking Bad, if Chuck had any faith in Jimmy. Chuck created the "Criminal Lawyer" he was afraid of because he didn't think people can change their nature.
And yet, for at least half a season, Chuck has been a vindictive asshole for no good reason, apparently disproving his own theories on change.

Chuck's also really jealous of the way everyone seems to like Jimmy instantly. It's something Chuck can't do. He's the stiff, knowledgeable, guy on his high horse, not the easy-going fun-loving charismatic guy that Jimmy is. I think Chuck wants to tear him down because of it. To show everyone that Jimmy's not someone who should be liked just out of spite.

Oh, it's Los Pollos Hermanos. Oh, it's Gus.
That was my reaction.
Though I will say this season is way better than the last one thus far.

Happy to see Gus back and that scene where you see his out of focus yellow shirt was great tension building. Also, the final scene in this episode was heart-breaking, that was Breaking Bad levels of knowing a character is doing something that is going to screw them over and being unable to stop it.

Apparently fans figured out the "Fring's Back" anagram before they'd even approached Giancarlo about working on the show. They were just hoping he wasn't kidding in an interview when he said he'd love to work on the show.
