Make of this what you will, but I'm just pulling for an Aksana appearance.

I'm not saying Lita will be bad.
I will say that I hope to every wrestling diety that has ever been is that someone drags Lita kicking and screaming into commentary classes from now until July.
She had moments but wasn't anywhere near good during her Sunday Night Heat run. She's somehow worse at public speaking since then.

Lita doing commentary....f*** I'm surprised WWE didn't use Renee instead. Honestly, for something like this, you need someone next to JR, or anyone, with wrestling experience and can tell you about different styles and what someone brings to a tournament. For the CWC, one of the reasons that was done so well was because Bryan was a great colour guy. He was into everything, put over everyone and knew from his wide experience about the different styles people brought from across the world. It's why, in theory, Lita makes sense. Lita's a former champions, faced off against some well known competiors and had her start in the independents and ECW before going to the WWF. For me, I would have gone with someone who could have brought a bit more character and experience to bounce off JR like Ivory (spent most of her career as a hell and started in GLOW, for crying out loud!) or even Alundra Blaze (who has decades of experience across the world) but then they would pretty much be unknown proprieties compared to Lita who at least had some commentary experience. I mean, I like Renee, don't get me wrong, but if they are going to do tournaments like this, you need to make them credible and feel like the biggest things that is put over by more experienced talent. Renee doesn't have that factor.

I think a lot of it is down to concussions messing with her speech, which is something that can happen, paired with maybe a little bit of alcoholism given some of her pre-show panel performances.

I really hope former females like Ivory, Alundra Blayze, Molly, Beth, maybe even Trish are brought to the show at least to do interviews, watch from the crowd etc, shill it up as a big deal

I thought Lita did a really good job doing the introductions on RAW for the last season of Tough Enough, and a really good job introducing the new Women's title at Wrestlemania last year. With a script she is a pretty decent speaker. But on the panel shows, live, with no script...she is awful. Stumbling over words and thoughts, speaking without adding anything to the discussion...that does not bode well for doing commentary here. Since it will be pre-taped perhaps they can work some magic and make something decent, but I'm disappointed (but not surprised) with the choice as of now. Perhaps she will be a pleasant surprise, who knows. I think with a show like this, a three person commentary booth could have worked really well for a change. JR, or I would have been happy with Mauro or Phillips, leading things, Renee working alongside him would be an encouraging female presence to add to the shows theme (if she could avoid the "all girls hate each other!" crap that she did last time she was in the booth) and then I thought Madusa might be a good veteran voice to put over the new generation of women and explain the physicality of moves. She is a confident speaker in interviews from what I've seen. I really hope former females like Ivory, Alundra Blayze, Molly, Beth, maybe even Trish are brought to the show at least to do interviews, watch from the crowd etc, shill it up as a big deal I think Alundra/Madusa and Beth are definites to be watching in the crowd, and I'd love to see Ivory, Jacqueline and Molly too. They need to start adding Victoria to this new regular set of women they focus on (I can't believe they didn't give her tickets to this past HOF). Eve is one of their favourites so I wouldn't be surprised to see her also. Trish seems like an obvious guest for the finals, and you know Stephanie is going to be focused on at some point. It's a shame they don't have an older female legend to show up. If Sherri hadn't passed I think she'd definitely be the name they brought in for occasions like this. Maybe Wendi Richter?

This isn't my first choice for a commentary team, but I'm willing to give it a chance. I'm far more worried about the taping schedule TBH. Having the live finale after an episode of Smackdown instead of as a stand-alone special from the PC is just asking for a dead crowd.

It's in Las Vegas, so it'll be 7pm when SmackDown goes off the air there. The fans in attendance should still have some energy when they start taping it.

I've never heard Lita on commentary, so I can't judge there. I know she wasn't much chop as a pre-show analyst, but that's a whole different ball game to commentary, so... I'll see how things turn out.

As someone that lives here and has seen dozens of live events in this city, I'm not sure Vegas is the ideal audience for this. Not exactly the smartest audience unless it's a PPV. (Also, this is the first I'm hearing of a Smackdown Live show in Vegas in September)

I'll see how things turn out. She had a brief stint doing commentary on Heat back in 02/03, and she was...okay, from what I remember. Not overly remarkable, but not really bad either.
