The Riddler first appeared in 1948 (Detective Comics #140) and only made 4 appearances before the Batman TV show.
His 3rd appearance was Batman #171 (1965), a whole 17 years after those first 2 in 1948.
Batman #171 was what the first episode of the Batman TV show, in 1966, was based on.
The show - and Frank Gorshin's performance - made the Riddler one of the top tier Batman villains; if not so much in comics, definitely in pop culture since.
(Meanwhile the Joker, Penguin and Catwoman all made numerous appearances in comics between 1940 and the show. The Riddler was a relative obscure find in comparison.)

The word "chortle" was invented by Lewis Carroll in his novel "Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There". It is believed to likely be a portmanteau of "chuckle" and "snort".
A palindrome is a word that is spelled the same forward and backward. While "palindrome" is not itself a palindrome, an "emordlinap" is a word that, when spelled backwards, forms an entirely new word.

What’s in a name..
The Godfather ..
Well it’s obvious the head or Don of the crime family in Mario Puzo book and later movie is called Godfather.. but the role of Godfather as the religious custom also plays a part in the story. Don Vito Corleone is Godfather to singer/actor Johnny Fontaine who he helps (more so in the book) get ahead in Hollywood. Michael Corleone is Godfather to his sister Connie’s second child which he used the baptism of child as a alibi while his men wiped out his enemies.
And lastly Pete Clemenza is the Godfather to Vito’s eldest son Sonny. Sonny was killed after being lead into trap set up by the Barzini family and his brother in law Carlo Rizzi. When the Corleone family finally get their vengeance on Carlo the one that does the killing is Sonny’s Godfather Clemenza (and according to the book Carlo shits his pants while being strangled)

qi.com/infocloud/giant-tortoisesThe Giant Tortoise took longer than it should have to get classified because they couldn't survive the voyage back to Europe. The reason they couldn't make it? They were so tasty that they always got eaten.

Although his unwillingness to kill fallen opponents or use guns would become hallmarks of his character, the Golden Age Batman was a super generic pulp hero who regularly gunned down enemies.

Apologies for reviving this dead (though useful?) thread, but I just heard a doozy:
The first words to come out of Mickey Mouse's mouth were NOT voiced by Walt Disney. They were by Carl Stalling, in a musical cartoon called The Karnival Kid in 1929.
Carl Stalling, who did some music very early in Disney animation, is best known as the composer who made the music for...... Looney Tunes.
Also, there was a moment in a later cartoon (1934's The Dognapper) where Mickey was voiced by Clarence Nash...... the voice of Donald Duck.

The recently defunct British travel company and airline Thomas Cook’s origins dates back to 1841 when a cabinet maker named Thomas Cook (duh) arranged rail transport between British towns for an anti alcohol consumption group.
After successfully arranging tours to The Great Exhibition (an early version of World Fair/Expo) of 1851 at the Crystal Palace in London. Thomas Cook & Sons starting arranging tours to Europe, and a decade later The United States. This was still about a half a century before the invention of flight, you must of had to bank up a lot of vacation time to go on these holidays.

There are breeds of jellyfish that you can turn inside out because their mouth and anus are the same. That is the case for every jellyfish. Other organisms with incomplete digestion tracts include sea anemone, flatworms, tapeworms, and hydra.

Are you saying that you can’t turn them inside out because they would die from doing so? If so, that would be the case for all of these organisms. Are you saying that the other organisms don’t use the same orafice for both food intake and waste disposal? If so, then you would be wrong. Organisms that do this have what is known as an incomplete digestive tract. It is a very common feature amongst the lower order animals. It forces these animals to eat more food than comparable animals because they don’t completely digest their food before expelling it, necessitating them to eat more to get the same nutritional intake.

Yes, sorry, it was the former I was referring to - that you couldn't actually turn any of them inside out!

In reality, stomach eversion is a real thing some animals can do quite normally. The most fascinating example of this is the starfish, who everts its stomach into clam shells to predigest the clam inside its shell, then slurp up the resulting soup when it pulls its stomach back from being inside out. There's videos of it on the internet. It's part of the 1.5% of the videos online that are not porn.

-MC Skat Kat had a top ten hit in Norway. -Addie Joss is the only player in the Baseball Hall of Fame whose playing career lasted less than 10 seasons. The Hall of Fame made an exception (you have to play at least ten.) -The rarest Baseball Hall of Fame autographs are negro leaguer Frank Grant and 19th century pitcher Tim Keefe. None are known to exist. Update on the last one. There are a few examples of Keefe. Frank Grant is the only one now.
