Literally no details but Atari posted this People are jumping all over this being a new console. My first thought was it was an Atari branded Loot Crate

An Atari Lootbox....... Containing a shirt with the Atari Logo (every month same shirt, just different colors) and 10 copies of ET.
Every Month.
Still better than current Lootcrate.

Fresh off the heels of Mini NES... There has been Atari 2600 Flashback consoles for what feels like 10 years now. I got Flashback 6 I think 2 years ago. Loaded with 60 or so games. The wireless controllers aren't as good as the Mini NES. But the price was much better. I mostly use it to introduce people to the 2600. Cause the Flashback has a decent selection of games on it. Only drawback is they include a few paddle games, that while they will work with the included joysticks, really need a set of paddle controllers to be played properly. One of the early models,I think the Flashback 2,was set up were you could add a cart slot and hook up a few wires and it would play 90% of the Atari 2600 carts out there. I do wonder if this Ataribox is just Atgames making a new and improved Flashback console. One of the guys that works for them posts at a video game forum I read, and he mentioned that "big things are coming from Atgames in 2017 dealing with Sega and Atari". But he could never expound on that statement. Makes me wonder if maybe this Ataribox might be a Flashback that does 2600,5200 and 7800. I doubt there is much mass market demand for 5200 and 7800. But I also never thought there would be enough demand for 2600 to have so many models of the Flashback come out.

I got one of those Flashbacks for Christmas a few years ago. Some games are still fun to play. But one thought runs through my head: "Just think, we used to pay up to $30 per cartridge."

If it's an Atari retro console, I hope they make a deal with other companies (especially Activision) to put third party games on there.

If it's an Atari retro console, I hope they make a deal with other companies (especially Activision) to put third party games on there. Pretty sure at least one of the Flashbacks had some Imagic games on it. Would love to see more of the 3rd party 2600 stuff on a console. That Activision collection on the PS1 is still one of my most played games. I got one of those Flashbacks for Christmas a few years ago. Some games are still fun to play. But one thought runs through my head: "Just think, we used to pay up to $30 per cartridge." I remember it being 40 for Ms Pacman when it came out. IIRC you could order it a month early thru the Atari fanclub. But after 84 games quickly went from 30 to 5 to every a buck. My mother carried around in her purse a list of every 2600 game I owned. That way when she found games for cheap she would see if I had them if not she grabbed them and I would get 10 to 20 games for my birthday or X-mas. Unlike the previous years were I got 1 or 2 games for my birthday and X-mas.

So their putting the inside of a mini SNES in a Atari Jaguars case and calling it a new system? shhhhh! OT, I hope it's a deluxe version of the Flashback with more Imagic games (Subterranea please), the Activision library, and maybe some of Mattel Electronics games and other 3rd parties. I have a flashback4 (Adventure2!) and would be interested in a console with an even more complete library. Maybe with access to Lynx and Jaguar stuff?

I wonder if this'll be releasing in October.....
......because I noticed 1 or 2 Atari logos in the BLADE RUNNER 2049 trailer and have been suspecting something Atari related this year ever since.
