I like Berserk and I'm only watching this out of obligation.

The animation really can get that bad at points, I mean it's not as blatant in this season but it can still get pretty janky.
...and then it's not like the whole thing is horrid.

You'll have Guts sliding out of frame of some shit that somehow still looks like green screen...but then he'll fight with Bishop Mozgus, a character that turns into a gigantic metal birdman, and it's abundantly clear where all the budget went.

I mean, it didn't even look like they had budget (or good direction) for a decent opening.
Just...ugh...I get not every studio can be Madhouse and I'm fairly sure with the subject matter there probably won't be much when it comes to ads or budget anyway but...a part of me wishes they just didn't even bother with this, but whatev.

At least we still have the ridiculously detailed manga art.

The ridiculously detailed manga art is actually why every single anime version of Berserk has had something wrong with its animation. That shit just can't be animated faithfully.

When it comes to animation the simpler the designs the better. So yes they never should have even tried animating Berserk to begin with. That being said using CG animation actually is the right idea when it comes to maintaining as much of the detailing from the manga as possible. The problem comes from them handing the series to a studio that sucks at doing CG animation....

Oh, **** NO.  They should've had their shit together from jump....
But since there are improvements, stuff like that is just jarring and irritating instead of something that'd make me stop watching.
