Magnus was much better in Season 3 of the series....I think he played leader more often than Rodimus did in those episodes! Heck, Galvatron always wanted to fight him and not Rod.

I actually really like that line and think its quite over looked. Its not what you would expect a hero leader to say in a kiddie cartoon and it showed how much darker the movie was.
Also, they thought kup and hot rod were dead (just bought it) so really there wasnt anything he could have done. In fairness he did come up with a manueber that saved the day.
Ultra Magnus gets too much stick for his reign as autobot leader, but he knew he was only Gerard fording it.

For a kiddies, cartoon movie advert for toys that was full of contunity errors, the dialoge was incredibly deep.

My favourite line, which is also a little over looked is by galvatron

"Foolish autobot, you lack even Primes courage"

Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime over Optimus Prime all the way. Always found Optimus' Boy Scout act tiresome, even as a kid. Granted, Rodimus could be a little whiny at times, but I always liked his arc of growing into his leadership.
