For me, I adore both Nina Simone and Michael Buble's "Feeling Good", and the Terence Trent D'Arby/George Michael versions of "Let Her Down Easy".
Rihanna's and Tame Impala's "Same Ol' Mistakes" are extremely similar, but both smooth.

"Land of Confusion". Both the original and the Disturbed cover have their own charm and are high points in their genres of music (in that the Genesis song is one of the best 80s pop songs of that era while the Disturbed song is one of the best rock songs of that decade).

Hurt, though I lean slightly more towards the Cash version.

Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon & Garfunkel and The Bangles (lean towards Simon and Garfunkel, but the cover is fun too)
All Along the Watchtower - Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix (they are basically completely different songs)

Zwan's acoustic rendition of Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden. The cover is haunting, the original just straight up rocks.

If it counts, I love both the original and Norman Cook remix of Brimful of Asha.

Isn't a remake the same as a cover?

Tainted Love by Gloria Jones and Soft Cell. With a Little Help from my Friends by The Beatles and Joe Cocker. Dear Prudence by The Beatles and Siouxsie and the Banshees Crying in the Rain by The Everly Brothers and a-Ha
With all of those, I actually prefer the cover to the original.

Isn't a remake the same as a cover? Remake usually refers to a movie, cover usually to a song.

- Most of Metallica's covers (Motohead, The Misfits, Black Sabbath, Discharge, etc.) - Nirvana's Meat Puppets and Devo covers. - Rage Against the Machine's Minor Threat cover.

Turning Japanese: the Vapors, Liz Phair, and I've grown to like the Kirsten Dunst version as well. (Kirsten's is rather creepy at first listen.)
The Passenger: Iggy Pop and Siouxie & the Banshees.
Big Yellow Taxi: Joni Mitchell & Amy Grant. (You knew I had to "find a way" to squeeze Amy on my list. Only change is that Amy raised admission for the tree museum since her version was done in 1993.)
Ball Of Confusion: The Temptations and Love & Rockets.
Always On My Mind: Elvis Presley & the Pet Shop Boys.
Dancin' In The Streets: Martha and the Vandellas & Petula Clark.
