12 months later, still no portable versions, and physical gifts still not sent to backers, but hey... Its better than nothing.

I've never been more relieved not to be a backer for a crowdfunded thing. "It's better than nothing" made me so f***ing mad, I couldn't believe it.

The ProJared LP of it is great because over the course of 7 videos he goes from 'people are kinda carrying on about it being the worst thing of the year' to 'oh my god why did I back this and why am I putting myself through this'

I'd still be angrier about Clang, to be honest, or that Yogscast bullshit, but it's certainly a case where they promised entirely too much, and with misguided priorities.

Really dislike this game (hate is too strong a reaction for something so bland). It has none of the polish or heart the original Megaman games did... not to mention how ugly the game looked.
The fact that the games credits are like 3 times longer than the game says a lot too... there was no need to list the thousands of people that couldn't be assed to fill their name in just leave it with and the rest of our x-thousand backers.
Though I did love things like "Kamiya was Right".

If you don't celebrate the 1 year anniversary, will Keiji Inafune fade away?

Mighty No. 9 was so baffling and it's really disappointing how it turned out. Inticreates is a solid developer and I'm surprised that they were involved with such a botched product. Then again, considering the other projects Inafune's been involved with since leaving Capcom generally being mediocre or disappointing, I guess it's a problem at the top. I'm glad I didn't decide to back it after all.
I have a lot more faith in IGA and Bloodstained, so I hope that faith is rewarded. At least the game seems to be on the right track and from all accounts IGA is a good guy to work with.

Well they haven't gone dark... or started like 3 kickstarters at the same time like Mighty Number 9 did. They also released a demo like last year that was super fun. The ProJared LP of it is great because over the course of 7 videos he goes from 'people are kinda carrying on about it being the worst thing of the year' to 'oh my god why did I back this and why am I putting myself through this' Especially as it continually broke his machine as he was playing.

What I don't understand is the kickstarter made 4 million and that was the game we got. Shovel Knight made 300k and it's one of the best games I've played in years. At least it wised people up that the higher the kickstarter a game makes doesn't always mean it will be good.

Just from hearing the opening theme, I was able to say to myself, "This is Castlevania." They've also been giving frequent updates to the game. Plus, there was the E3 demo, which looked very solid.

And that isn't just palette swaps of a character, Plague Knight and Spectre Knight have their own unique playstyles and campaigns.

Keiji never said "It's better than nothing", that was his translator.

Keiji never said "It's better than nothing", that was his translator. True. It just so happened to sum up the best possible praise most had for Mighty No 9, that its more or less now part of the game's memetic mystique.

Part of the problem is with MN9, they tried to get it to work on so many different platforms from many different generations, and all using 3D graphics. Shovel Knight is glorious 2D pixel art, meaning more systems can handle it in a uniform manner. Also Shovel Knight was a staggered release. First PC, Wii U, and 3DS, then the other platforms(Xbone and PS4 got sweet boss fights against one of the Battletoads and Kratos for their troubles though). It should be noted that the free DLC was also part of the Shovel Knight funding campaign, meaning this entire time they've been delivering on their campaign promises.

Not to mention the boneheaded decision not to frame lock the thing to 30 fps when they realised that any effects dropped it from 60 to 35 on consoles, which made playing the thing an unpleasant experience. That's probably why it's still MIA on handheld, they can't get the thing to work right!

Fortunately for the Mighty team, No Man's Sky soon came along to draw the ire of gamers away from this disappointment.
