I wonder what sort of state Star Fox 2 is in for this release. The beta's been floating around out there, but you can tell it's very much a beta. If I'm not mistaken a 100% complete version of the game leaked 2-3 years ago. It is known for a fact that the game was ready to go to print when it was scrapped, very similar to the Mother/Earthbound Zero thing EDIT: Also, Nintendo has announced 2 major issues will be addressed. The cords are longer and they are producing "significantly more" systems then the NES. They wouldn't confirm whether or not it will continue production past the end of the year tho

From past interview, Nintendo does have a 100% complete version of star fox 2 in their vault. The one that been floating on the Internet was a 80% prototype of the game not the finish product.

i'm preordering tomorrow as I know just how limited they will be after the nes last year. Yeah, about that... i'll be preordering in my local game store tomorrow if it's still available to be done (I think amazon may have jumped the gun with pre-orders and put it up early.)

Also glad the cords will be longer and supply won't be so tiny. Hopefully "significantly more" is well, actually significantly more. I want a chance to actually get this because it's a real quality lineup and I'd love to play these classic games on my HDTV without the typical issues that come with playing older consoles on widescreen HDTV's (input lag, distorted proportions, etc).

They wouldn't confirm whether or not it will continue production past the end of the year tho Weird that they never released the complete version, but then this is a treat for a lot of people not into emulation scenes. The reasoning given by the lead programmer was that when Star Fox came out, they were competing with the Genesis/Mega Drive and the game looked revolutionary compared to what Sega could do. By the time 1995 rolled around, the N64 was supposed to launch that year, and they were now competing with PSX and Saturn. The SNES hardware was showing its age in terms of graphical capabilities, and Nintendo decided to shelve the game and focus on SF64 rather then look like the also rams still trying to compete with more powerful systems. Of course, the N64 wouldn't come out until late 1996 and Nintendo ended up releasing some amazing games in 1995 and there definitely was room for Star Fox 2 but that was the reasoning at the time.

Also, I like how it's still called Final Fantasy III instead of VI. I guess it wouldn't be classic if it didn't.

Kind of wish it was something like 25 games instead. - Chrono Trigger
- DKC2
- Super Mario All-Stars
- TMNT: Turtles in Time
Are the glaring omissions IMHO.

If this thing had Donkey Kong Country 2, it would be perfect to me. But it has Mega Man X, which is about as close to perfection as it gets. The rest of the line-up is REALLY solid, too.
I cannot wait to (hopefully) get this. SNES is my baby.

This comes out the day I fly out for vacation. But my flight isn't until 5 p.m. I may need to go look for this before venturing to the airport. You should probably pre-order this asap and not wait. If it's anything like the NES one, only Europeans will be allowed to pre-order. For whatever reason, American retailers were not allowed to take pre-orders on it. Expect Nintendo to make like maybe 12 of these things total, and for most of them to sit in scalpers' closets.

Nintendo actually just issued a statement saying they would produce a higher quantity, but it seems like they're only being made in a small window again (until the end of the year).

I'd like to own one but after the fiasco with the NES Classic, I'm not getting my hopes up at all. If they're easily available next year, I'll pick one up.

I sincerely hope Nintendo are going to be giving the people from Argonaut Games a cut of the profit. They've screwed them over enough over the years.

I own a good chunk of that lineup already, but FFIII, Super Metroid, and Yoshi's Island? Want.
The SNES had so many good games that this lineup only scratches the surface. Stuff like Mega Man Soccer, Secret of Evermore, Harvest Moon, weird platformer Kendo Rage, Chrono Trigger...

Missing Turtles in Time, Pilotwings, DKC2 and All-Stars. And where's Rushing Beat Shura or Sonic Blast Man II?!
But seriously looks damn good.

Also, I like how it's still called Final Fantasy III instead of VI. I guess it wouldn't be classic if it didn't. Also means it's going to have the "classic" localization too complete with the Lincoln-era NOA's bizarre form of censorship, like calling the Holy spell "Pearl." Meanwhile, Celes getting the shit beaten out of her by Imperial soldiers while chained to a wall and attempting suicide later on were apparently A-OK by Nintendo's standards. Go figure. I mean, I'll give Ted Woolsey credit for essentially translating and localizing that game by himself in the amount of time he did. It's a testament to his work ethic. But the translation had a lot of errors, in addition to NOA's censorship and having to shorten a bunch of names for spells and certain characters due to memory issues. Though on the bright side, it means the Vanish/Doom trick is likely back in.

I just had a thought. As mentioned earlier, I fly out to Canada the afternoon of Sept. 29. What are the odds of me finding one of these in Nova Scotia?
