Honestly I think Nintendo would do better trying to make something more like a gamestick or a FireTV and have it connected to the virtual console store, than the "30 and done" plug and plays going for way too much

If I owned a good deal of shares in Nintendo, I would be calling for heads over what they've done with the NES and now Super NES Classics. They're leaving millions of dollars on the table to create "It's the hot thing" buzz...WHEN THERE'S ALREADY A TON OF BUZZ! They don't get one red cent of those insane markups on eBay, all they're doing is creating a payday for a secondary market with this shit.

For years I said what I really wanted was to play Mario again. Or ExciteBike. I was pumped when they announced this. Then they decided to create an artificial scarcity and sit around scratching their heads as to why they're bleeding money.

Glad I didn't bother getting excited about it. Amazing how a company like Nintendo who's been around for so long could screw this up twice in a row.
Well, time to sit back and not get excited for the N64 Classic that no one will actually get.

Missed out on the US pre-order, so I'm not getting one.
Oh well.
But I wish there was a way to let them know that this bullshit is why I'm never going to buy a Switch.

So Walmart just cancelled my pre-order. But it's okay, they still charged my credit card. f***ers Great. Now I'm going to be in constant fear of them cancelling my pre-order. Also, it still blows my mind that they're going ahead and charging for a pre-order. Like I said earlier in the thread, I've never heard of anyone doing this. Most places don't charge until it's shipped.

It would be ok if Nintendo released the old games on their online console stores.
They do, but it's limited and you can't get everything (and that's also excluding old licensed games they legally can't put on there). I got a 2DS earlier this year and I thought I might get SNES game for it on the virtual console, went to the and it said you needed the latest 3DS to play the two decade old SNES games! Plays Mario Kart 7 just fine, but the very first Mario Kart... nope can't run it. f*** off!

Ah Nintendo, may you forever put bone-headedness ahead of actual business sense... Speaking of which, GBA games on Virtual Console WHEN?

Jesus Christ! And people wonder why I mostly look at Nintendo with disdain.
There's just no excuse for this clusterflark happening twice in a row.

Nintendo really, truly does seem like they genuinely don't want people buying their products. I don't get it but be it Amiibos, the NES and SNES Classic, the Switch, or whatever, they seem to deliberately make them as hard to purchase as they possibly can.

I guess that's the lesson they learned from Wii. Everyone wanted one and it sold out. So, if you don't make any, it'll sell out!!

For whomever mentioned the Switch, I once again have to remind you all that there's scarcity for one of the main components for it, which is being fought over between Nintendo, f'n Apple and some TV manufacturers, so even if they wanted, they are not really able to produce as many as they would want. And the NES Classic was always going to be a nice little "for collectors" item, thus the small quantity. They say this one will have more, but I think it will be more over time and really on the first day and much less for pre-orders. Just try to force your local stores to enforce a "one per costumer" policy on it to combat scalpers and you will feel less shortages.
But then again, I'm in Portugal. Pretty sure I could walk in a store and buy one a week after launch. Of all recent consoles, that was true for all of them (the Switch only became really scarce 3 weeks after launch).

So I'm guessing if Wal-Mart hasn't cancelled your order yet, you're in the clear? It's a goddamn shame you have to be this concerned/paranoid over Nintendo's shit.

All pre-orders from Wal-Mart have been/will be cancelled. Just got an e-mail saying it was a "technical glitch" on their part. They should absolutely have to honor it, in my opinion. Such bullshit to get everyone's hopes up and take it away because you're a white trash company that doesn't know how to operate your Packard Bell (Yes, I'm pissed).
Nintendo deserve shit for this too. It's f***ing ridiculous that you have to jump through hoops to get their shit. Both companies deserve any and all shit they'll get for this.

The thing is, Nintendo will be able to get away with this forever as long as they keep making Zelda games.

Yeah, Nintendo have been rushing as many Switches out as they can make. You don't do things like air ship consoles that you are trying to keep scarce, the cost of shipping along makes it almost completely cost ineffective which ruins the entire point of why you'd have a false scarcity.
