One thing that annoys me about Civil War. It made all the heroes unlikable dicks. So much so that basically they needed an entire other event to fix things with... "Oh those unlikable dicks that were complete assholes they were actually skrulls in disguise." The one thing that I will say bothered me about Civil War was, for the most part, the X-Men staying out of the conflict. They, or at least through the warnings of Rachel Summers and Kitty know where the whole idea of Superhuman Registrations lead to. Why were they, once again, for the most part, kind of like "Meh" when this whole deal began? Now, I'll admit. I didn't read the X-Men crossover issues. Just the main story, but it really seemed really out of character for the mutants for not just straight out say "No" to the whole idea of the registration of all superhumans. I can accept the other stuff, even if for just the sake of the story, but I think that was really the beginning of the whole "F**k the X-Men" thing with Marvel. Short version, the X-Men were going through so much shit at the time Cyclops told both sides "I'm gonna say this once: We're not getting involved. STAY. THE F***. OFF MY LAWN." I also remember Carol Danvers showing up trying to get them to be announce they were pro-registration and some of the mutants took it as obvious pandering of the pro-reg side of "hey it's your good friend Carol... remember when you had space adventures with her?"

Really? the Ultimate Universe was pretty much derided forever outside of like the entire Spider-man line.
And Millar has been getting flak for pretty much turning into a one trick pony of everything is terrible and awful and then a woman is either murdered or raped or both once he started doing his indy work.
I mean not everything he does is terrible I mean he had a really good run on Fantastic Four but he kinda shoe horned himself into that niche.

Hitch's art on Ultimates looked great at least. I will say the first series was interesting/not too far off the rails.
Whole thing went crazy pretty quickly though.
I collected the whole Spidey run till Bagley left.

Didn't bother with Ulitmate Iron Man cause I do not like OSC.

Most of the people I chat comics with gave up on the Big 2 back in the 90s. Millar also had good runs on Swamp Thing and Vampirella. But then I seem to one of the few that thinks Geoff John's and Peter David.

Ultimate Cap sucked. Till Parker died anyway, then he kinda mellowed out. And became president.

I liked the first 2 Ultimates when they came out, but they haven't aged well. Loeb destroyed my interest in the universe, whilst Ultimate Spiderman started to peter out for me around issue 80 or 90. I love the first 50 or so issues though, that's still my favourite Spidey.

whilst Ultimate Spiderman started to peter out . . Heh. If that pun was unintended, it's still great.

Reminder: Civil War is ultimately what caused One More day to happen, at least as far as in-universe things go. And House of M caused Civil War. That's not really pertinent to the conversation, I just like reminding people House of M was a thing that happened.

At least Civil War had some pretty good art (though it didnt save the story), Secret Invasion didnt even have that (everyone looked disturbingly shiny in that one).

Should have done my homework on this earlier. That image is indeed from ultimates, and not civil war. I feel the shame.
.......but not as much as marvel should feel for having Cap say that line. Seriously, f%#$ that part. My opinion on that stays exactly the same.

Like Linkara I don't get why Stark had Spider Man unmask publicly. Yes it was supposed to help his side, but it seemed like one big publicity stunt.
Plus it led into One More Day.
So Iron Man is to blame for One More Day.

He said they needed to be put into check, when it was HE that made Ultron. So technically, he should be the one put in check. The first time was them saving the world against an ALIEN INVASION.

Like the book everyone's a dick, I'd say Reed Richards was the biggest dickhead he had a hand in Prison 42 & Clor and another issue is he got away with it
- Iron Man - Thor beat him up and had a go at him - Hank Pym was a Skrull
Richards? NOTHING
He also was one of the people that shot hulk into space which caused WWH, but he got the crap kicked out of him by Hulk so that was fine
