We're a few months into Kurt's RAW GM run now, and he's made a goddamn mess.
Uncle Eric save us.

Bischoff could veer too much into tired Vince clone sometimes, but he was excellent when in the, "Heel, face, I don't give a shit, I hate all you people," mode. Like when he was pissed that for all the help he gave Evolution they did nothing to stop him from getting his head shaved, that was good stuff and the kind of thing it'd be nice to see more of in wrestling.

I remember being really interested in that angle, then Cena was drafted over to Raw so they reverted Bischoff back into Vince mode. That combined with Trips winning the Elimination Chamber match to start 2005 made me go full "lol, nooooooope" for years.

Sure, Bischoff had his 'Mini-McMahon' moments and such but he seemed to be the only GM that looked like he knew what he was doing 95% of the time.
Which made the times they tried to make him look incompetent all the more confusing. Sure, he made some mistakes but compared to the mess that was going on on Smackdown at the same time (Vince beating the crap out of his own daughter for doing things he could have easily stopped, for example), he was basically the greatest GM in history.

Full disclosure: I think the Heel GM/Commissioner/Grand poobah plot device is complete dogshit. I would be a very happy man if it went away and stayed gone. That also goes for any Authority figure in general.
That said, I'd take Eric 10 times out of 10 over anything that's followed him in the 12 years(!) since he's been gone. Pretty much any heel figure (outside of Steph) seems like they're doing an impression of Bischoff doing an impression of Vince during his 'Mini Vince' phase

It also helps that the insane stuff they did on Raw (remember Shane trying to murder Kane by driving a limo into a truck trailer) they could explain because Sheriff Austin was there not caring about anything.

Definitely, Bischoff was always a great talker and on air character, keep in mind that he was doing the Vince heel shtick before Vince did (On a weekly basis anyway, i know about the Vince in Memphis one off)

Bischoff vs Stephanie in the early going had some great segments. If we were picking best GM on one moment alone, I'd give it to Bischoff for his "...did I just say... three minutes???" impostor-preacher reveal (even if the rest of that angle was awful).

Am I alone in liking the laptop (until the reveal that it was f***ing Hornswoggle of course)? I did. It was the closest thing to an impartial GM as we got. Also, how is Eric a McMahon rip off when he played that role a full year before Vince?

Also, how is Eric a McMahon rip off when he played that role a full year before Vince? Once Cena got drafted to Raw, they tried (and failed terribly) to recreate Austin/Vince.
