For a chase scene, even one decontextualized from the rest of the movie, this clip is kind of... sluggish?

Y'know.......it comes across as a modern day action scene being filmed & made in the '80s/90s. Sluggish to modern sensibilities, but pretty spot-on accurate for that era the movie is taking place in. I didn't care for it either, but I had that weird thought and suddenly it works for me much better now. Although to the person who said "her voice doesn't fit the part": you put that in my head & it literally ruined whatever I may've enjoyed about this movie. Because you're absolutely right: her voice just does - not - work. Granted, I don't frequent the theatres much anymore so I was probably not gonna see this on the big screen anyway, but still. Part of me hopes she's just putting on a younger voice, and that she'll sound better in the modern day movies.....

U.K.-exclusive Odeon poster: Marvel have been knocking it out of the park with this movie's posters.

Brie Larson's voice is fine in general, but even that sounds different here. Hopefully hearing more of her will help? Not sure. The test I put these comic movie voices through is "does this voice match the character in the comics?" I've had nothing really to go on in the past with Carol Danvers, but this voice.....doesn't fit.

What I am going to assume is that this film is essentially about her beginnings and she's not as sure of herself as she needs to be. Something tells me she'll be more confident, authoritative, and stronger come Endgame.

Once upon a time, many people predicted Guardians Of The Galaxy would be a bomb.... There's people who still try to move the goalposts and say Ant-Man and the Wasp was a failure because it didn't make $700 million, ignoring the fact that it made 5x its budget back, and made over $100 million more than its predecessor. At this point only a fool would bet against Marvel making bank on anything they release. I'll admit, I have no interest in the Eternals based on what we already know, but I'll reserve judgement on whether I'll see it until the trailers are out. After Guardians, I think they've earned that right.

Anyone who would bet against the company with Avengers coming up is nuts. Pre Sales are a cue this is about to be another hit.

I have about zero interest in this. A lot like the Thor movies and the Ant-Man sequel but no way it doesn’t make a shitload of money like the previously mentioned films. I definitely agree with the “its foolish to bet against Marvel thing”.

The only way a Marvel movie bombs is if its preceded by a bunch of really shit films beforehand. Even then, the success of Wonder Woman and Aquaman showed you could even have a hit when the entire reason you exist fell flat on its face.

Even then, the success of Wonder Woman and Aquaman showed you could even have a hit when the entire reason you exist fell flat on its face. Transformers is a great example of this. Bumblebee was a damn good movie, but is the lowest-grossing of the series in part because audiences have finally lost patience with the terrible quality of the previous five movies. A huge part of Marvel's success is the quality control. They've figured out the winning formula and stick pretty closely to it, only occasionally taking a risk on shaking things up, and boy has it paid off. That audience is now built in to almost everything they release, so it's gonna take a lot to ruin all that goodwill.

Reports say its looking at over a 100 million opening weekend Wasn’t it tracking for 150 a month ago? Between 140-180, depending on which article you cite, but tracking numbers are usually off by an average of about 25% that far out due to the lack of data to base it on. Those close they can go on prerelease sales, marketing saturation, public reaction to that marketing, and reviews not too long before release.

That just seemed like a pretty decent dip from one tracking update to the other.
