How did Kansas City get so much back? Apparently 6 teams had offered and were bidding for Alex Smith, Denver was one but they apparently didn't make a good offer and the Chiefs preferred to send him out of the division.

Alex Smith doesn't make Washington better. You would think you'd want to improve your team for a guaranteed $71 million

Well it's Dan Snyder, this is what he does.

Good lord...
Cousins is gonna have some huge suitors since Washington wanted to take a deal that... I feel like isn't going to be in their best interests.

So the only explanation I have for this is that Snyder thinks the QB market is about to sky rocket in prices considering Cousins is about to start making $30 mil a year and Rodgers is working on an extension that should be signed by mid summer.
This contract is a steal if Rodgers signs a seven year $240 million deal, which is probably what his value is to the team. It's a disaster if Rodgers signs a Brady contract so that he can try and get some more rings.

Maybe the Jets should go after Cousins

It's a lot of salary cap used up on a game manager who's thrown more than 20 TD passes twice in nine seasons. Nothing wrong with Alex Smith really, but it's at best a lateral move at worst a small step down.

Maybe the Jets should go after Cousins As a fan I’d rather they get someone on a one year deal and draft a QB, probably end up with Mayfield who you hope is more Russell Wilson than Johnny Manziel I see cousins either with Jacksonville or Denver

I am not sure I want Cousins in Denver. Yeah it is a massive upgrade at QB but the price would be near crippling. On top of that, our line is still shit so he'd under way too much pressure.
If we were to sign him, we could always draft some line help but we'd have to dump someone like Talib (which I am going okay with to be honest) or Emmanuel Sanders (which I'd hate). CJ may become trade bait as well which could be interesting too.

Cousins is a damn good player, he had to win games by himself since the D is non existent. You can't ask the franchise qb to score 30 or more points every f***ing week. He also threw a pick against the Giants, last game of the season in a do or die situation (win and you're in scenario) and the dude threw it into double coverage. We're paying $30 mil a year to go 7-9, and hell we still might go 7-9 with Smith but I trust him a helluva lot more in late game situations than Cousins. Cousins will be in an interesting spot, he pretty much needs weapons around him in order to be successful. If your team doesn't have an alpha receiver or running back, or even a halfway decent o-line, the contract is going to look really bad. As a fan of the team, the word is we're getting a 3rd rounder as a comp pick for Cousins anyway, so this straight up becomes Fuller for Smith. I hated that they traded Fuller away but I'm just glad Cousins is gone. The local sports media absolutely has beaten the Cousins thing to death. It was RG 3, then Cousins...I'm glad it's over and everyone can move on.

Talib seems likely and I think Elway might do business with the Jets again in regards to a trade since they seem to do a trade with the Jets every year and they need CB help Other then Cousins, maybe Elway can entice the Giants to give up Eli and then Denver drafts a QB to groom but that seems unlikely with both the ownership and coaching staff looking to mend fenced with Eli

Or blew the game that was already won against the Lions? I trust Smith less. The Chiefs had a great defense, the skins never even had a mediocre defense.

The Jaguars are a quarterback away from being legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Their defense is loaded on every level, they have a talented offensive line, and their skill positions are strong. They just need a competent-to-slightly above average signal caller to round it out. If Jacksonville had Cousins under center instead of Bortles, then maybe the Jaguars coaches wouldn't have been so terrified of throwing the ball against the Patriots in the second half of the AFC Championship and maybe Jacksonville is representing the AFC in Super Bowl LII.

If they cut Bortles before free agency starts everything gets interesting. It's Cousins or bust for them if that's the case unless Eli also makes himself available

If they pick up Cousins I'm locking them in as my pick for the AFC half of the Super Bowl next year. I have too many questions about whether this is the swan song for Brady and whether New England can just simply plug a new guy in to replace him. A complete Jaguars team could be, maybe not a juggernaut, but a major AFC force nonetheless.
