It's that time of year when football seems to grow crazier with ridiculous amounts of money being spent. This summer though, is pretty much taking the piss. £50 million for Kyle Walker? Such shenanigans require a shiny new thread, so here it is. As I say every year, please keep it friendly in here. A bit of light piss-taking is ok anything more is not.

2017-18 season might have started but I don't think the Sunderland fans are aware of this judging by the empty seats tonight!

What a very Sunderland goal to concede.
Can see Sunderland struggling this season to be honest. They got papped 5-0 off a Celtic reserve team last week and Darron Gibson's rant isn't going to help morale much either.

Mbappe went off injured in Monaco's first game of their title defense.
If it's bad enough, it might be the last time we see him in Monaco gear.

Also, seeing AC Milan in the Europa League qualifying rounds just doesn't seem right at all.

With Beckham United FC becoming more and more of a reality, Miami FC's days are numbered.

Neymar did not join PSG for money.
It's his lifelong ambition to win Ligue 1.

Does any team that had Shefki Kuqi as a player need a manager? He just got fired after trying to fire his assistant managers without the chairman of the club knowing about it. Nevermind the fact he had steered his side close to a relegation battle with second largest budget in the league.
I know he wants to get back into Britain as a manager, but is any team desperate enough to take him?
E: by the way, has there ever been a good manager who played as a target man? Seems like most successful ones played in midfield.

I don't know about target man specifically, but Sir Alex Ferguson, Brian Clough, Bobby Robson, and Kenny Dalglish were all forwards who were good managers.

Hopefully someone can clear this up for me because I can't find a clear answer anywhere: Did the Premier League make it so that the top 4 teams automatically move on to the Champions League instead of the top 3, or has it been like this for a while now?

I want to say it only changed in the mid 2000s but I could be wrong so it has been a while.

I watched that game this afternoon and was really impressed with Fulham. They knock the ball around so quickly and skilfully. Thought Fulham should've won the game but that's what you get for not taking your chances! Not impressed with Boro though...£40million spent to put in an awful performance at Wolves

It all depends on the coefficiency points earned by English clubs in European competition. Basically the better clubs perform the more points they earn, the more points they earn the more places are allocated to English teams in the Champions League. IIRC England were close to losing a spot a few years ago after a couple of seasons where the majority of clubs were eliminated early, but retained it because the nation with the next highest number of cordficiency points - Italy - were experiencing a similar slump.
