I don't think it's a huge mistake on their part or anything. Just because they're starting a network doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a big mover like the WWE Network is supposed to be. ROH have an online service that I pay for, since I don't have cable. If you compare ROH's online network to the WWE I'm sure ROH aren't making much bank off of it at all, but it's a small scale enough operation that I'm sure it's not entirely useless either. They have an archive that WWE tried to procure for themselves at one point. I think it's worth trying.

"5,000" is being generous. Knocking a couple zeros off would still be generous... Just to be safe I'd knock the 5 off too.

You always want to be #1, but sometimes you have to swallow your pride and start putting reasonable expectations ahead of you. ROH has done this. But, TNA wants to be WWE's equal in every single way. This is not a sound model, especially since you tape months in advance and barely run any other shows. I honestly believe they think they can get what the Network gets and then some. The delusions of those in charge keep undermining the potential growth in the company.

Sure, I don't think anyone here is saying they shouldn't try it because other companies with slightly less history have tried and succeeded. The difference is that ROH did it in a place of substantial growth, that their fanbase is big enough to justify the work they'd put in. Same with most other places (not that I know 100% about other places but considering most are still around, that's the take I'm getting). Before TNA was bought by Anthem, they were living week by week, some cases day by day, and losing TV deals left and right. They've gone from 1.2 million viewers to less than 500,000. Even after Anthem brought them, the only reason POP continued their TV deal was because it doesn't cost them very much to keep them on TV. They've lost so much talent in the last 6 months alone with more probably leaving with the new deals offered and likely, events of the GFW/AAA 'fued'. GFW's brand isn't in a good place, to the point where the only place they can go to to get anywhere is Orlando. Doing a UK tour again might hurt them more when two years ago, it was a money maker. Looking at all this and thinking 'Yes, at this moment in time we should launch a subscription service' is not so much misguided, it's complete ignorance to what's happened in your company for the last two years.

ROH did it when Sinclair bought them and basically saved the company from death. Not exactly organic growth. So it would be a similar spot for GFW in that respect. This could flop for sure but when all we know is this is something that might happen, without knowing the scale of it, the price or GFW's intent I think it's premature to really say much right now. Could be low-key success like ROH or a GFWTNA classic screwup.

Could be low-key success like ROH or a GFWTNA classic screwup. Well, to be fair with that, Cornette saved them from death and kept them stable enough for Sinclair to buy them but I see what you're saying. Again, the idea isn't the problem for most people. Have them on the Fight Network app. Make that much more of an established thing. Hell, if the ROH stuff interferes, launch a whole new app without them for people outside of Canada. Walk before you crawl, get your reputation and audience back.

Their only real hope on this is that somehow they've managed to get their "partners" NOAH and AAA to license out their libraries as well. I don't see that happening. If they could get some of NOAH's older content like Misawa era stuff that would be awesome. But yeah this is TNA/GFW. It's not happening. I'd be surprised if their network consists of more than a loading screen that stalls halfway.

It totally feels like GFW/TNA used to be a subscription-based MMO but after a while, nobody cared, so they had to go free-to-play just to survive.

So, despite the fact that they could be bailing on this, they're still marching ahead with things. Business going to business, I guess. I don't see why anyone would want to invest anything into this company as all, though. Not even a little. The Pluto app makes sense, I've been waiting for a TNA rebrand for a while. The only thing they show that isn't TNA related is the Biography of Andre The Giant.

They already have something on Pluto TV. Why are they announcing this? BTW, Pluto is awesome, but a real data eater.

Sooooo, according to PWInsider, not only does GFW think it's going to launch its own network, but also a channel on Pluto TV. (Sounds like they're just going to rebrand the Pro Wrestling channel, which already shows classic TNA. In typical TNA fashion, this would actually make the pro wrestling channel worse, since it would presumably eliminate the non-TNA content including movies starring wrestlers and those great A and E Biographies.
