Something I've always wondered. How come people who are from Texas usually pronounce it "Tex-Iz" and people who don't usually say it "Tex-is"? Is it the accent?

It's all accents and dialects, yeah. Like how people from Baltimore say "Bawdimar" or something instead of "Ball-ti-more" or "Bodymore."
In my accent, instead of calling my state capital "Tren-ton" I say "Treh'in," with a barely audible t where the apostrophe is.

If you live between Trenton and Philly, it is physically impossible to pronounce the "T" in words like that. I still sound like a child when I pronounce "winter" as "winner".

I've always heard it as Texus So it's not just me, then. I've just said it aloud and, yep, 'Texus' was how I pronounced it.

I'm from a bit northeast of Trenton. But that applies to me for a lot of "nt" words like "Clinton" or "Bentley." Strangely, I pronounce "winter" just fine without accent interference.

Because I'm born and raised Canadian, but also a part-time Buffalonian with my wife, I have the weirdest cross between a Canadian accent and a New York accent you've ever heard.

For sure, it's really noticeable with my brother in law who is from Ohio because he pronounces it as Tren-ton and it's really noticeable.
