before I turned off the commentary, they mentioned Morrison's ladder match with Sheamus. Look THAT one up! Morrison v Sheamus at what event? I want to say TLC 2010

Batista vs. Shawn Michaels w/Chris Jericho as the special ref-Backlash 2008. I liked the storyline as it came out of WM24 with Shawn ending Flair's career and Batista accusing him of being egotistical, all the while Jericho is stirring the shit and laying the groundwork for his heel turn later on. I wasn't at this match, but at I was at the promo - "Trust me when I tell you, I'm not hurt." What really sells this match is while you saw all the shit Jericho stirred up, you're not sure what his endgame is at this point. Jericho played his role as ref VERY straight, to the point I think this was one of the first times a male wrestler wore a ref shirt WITH sleeves. I remember that making me confused and curious to where his end of the story was going. Jericho can even sell being a good ref!

Owen Hart v Edge, Breakdown: In Your House (September 98). I know there's been a few Owen matches suggested, but as it should be: Owen was awesome. Was this one of Edge's first PPV matches? He overshot Owen a couple of times on some of his aerial maneuvers. Oh, and Christian already costing Edge matches solid outing for Edge, and Owen makes it look so easy.

He overshot Owen a couple of times on some of his aerial maneuvers. From what I remember, after he injured one of the borricuas on his Raw debut, he pretty much disappeared until he showed up as Sable's partner at Summerslam. So Breakdown would have been his 2nd PPV match.

Two really good matches in the same tournament:
Edge vs Kane on Raw #625 - May 16 2005 (Watch the post-show also) Shawn Michaels vs Shelton Benjamin on Raw #623 - May 2 2005
I was a huge fan of this era of WWE so I've been going back and watching 2005 episodes. These two matches were epic!

The Road Warriors v. The Steiner Brothers Monday Nitro March 11, 1996 Bischoff is a decent PBP guy, and I'm surprised Heenan(RIP) didn't deck him at points during the match. An OK Technical/Power fight here, and I'm guessing Hogan bought those bikes for the Nasty Boys. Just for that I hope it WAS the Road Warriors who saved me from having to watch the NAsty boys at work.

Rob Van Dam vs. Big Show (ECW Title Match) ECW on Sci-Fi July 4, 2006-Philadelphia, PA. Sign in Crowd: "RVD and Sabu Are Innocent!" Points to Joey, Uncle Paul and Tazz for selling "RVD's grueling schedule" as a plot point to some "Oh shit" booking. Despite the known outcome of this match, this was pretty solid and I think that the only thing that had changed for it was the ending. Rob still looked pretty good out there against a lumbering Big Show. The powerbomb/chairshot near the end was gorgeous. RVD got in all of his offense but didn't lose out of any fault of his own(on-screen). I was not at this event, but I was at a house show a couple of days before where I got to see RVD/Show throw down at an ECW-only house show in Huntington, WV. I got a speeding ticket on the way to this show, and I always wondered if Rob got caught in the same speed trap that I did.... If it wasn't for that little incident Rob would have been dual champion a lot longer, obviously.

A given, but Shawn VS Taker Wrestlemania 25 & 26. And for WM25, I always watch HBK's "Creation" promo from the SD a couple of weeks before. 25 had the better build, and both matches deliver. What more is there to say about two of the best in the industry?

I was tempted to ask if these were both from the Gold Rush tournament - I remember losing my mind when I saw Shelton get kicked out of the air

Edge, Foley, and Lita vs Dreamer, Funk, and Beulah from ONS 2006.
Such a cool descent into mayhem.

the Rockers vs. the Brain Busters. SNME 3/11/89
Fast paced match that would still be really good if it happened today. Both teams bring it.

Flair vs Windham from 1987 in Hidden Gems I think I know where the "Canned cheers" were recorded from what a hot crowd for almost the entire 30-odd minutes of this match! And miracle of miracles, Ric Flair barely bled. That is what a crowd can do for a match. This is a basic technical affair that had all the right parts - good wrestling, good commentary, good officiating (Yes, I'm a Tommy Young fan) and a HOT HOT CROWD. Wrestlers can't get crowds like that anymore.
