British Bull dog vs Shawn michaels for the Euro title - One Night Stand 1997 I think you meant "One night Only"..... The European title in the main even of a WWF PPV? was that a "First"? HBK loves his adulation and is a good sport about some brat trying to gouge out his eye with a Bulldog figure. and I still contend 2006 HBK is prettier than 1996-7 HBK. Odd to hear JR, Vince and Lawler at the table together - did that happen often before Vince was "exposed" as the owner? They make a big deal about Bulldog dropping weight - was there a "Medical" reason? Heel HBK and his soon-to-be-DX helpers making for epic heat and Hebner has actually been in good position to NOT see all the cheating. excellent post-match drama, but I wonder how much of that was acting and what might have been actual tension between Michaels and the Harts....

Triple H vs Shawn Michaels Monday Night Raw December 22 1997 Merry DXmas to me~! (I'd never heard the entire "Christmas presents" promo from them) as DX hogs the camera time in 1997 as much as they did in 2006 JR/Cornette at the table is kinda fun, actually - at least before Corny lost his sense of humor. Gotta love heels with a sense of humor... and authority figures who don't put up with it.

Goldust vs. Val Venis: Judgement Day 98 wait, is this match safe for work? a "Golden shower" for Val Venis.... make your own joke here, along with the "golden cup" that Goldust gave him. GIANT sign in the crowd "Val Venis Penetrates Chicago".... And dirty old man Lawler is dirty old man.... "She shoulda known something was going on when they moved to another state and had the same mailman" "you said 'dick'tates" -Lawler "What's wrong with you tonight??" "Terri Runnels got some great body language.... quite a vocabulary, too" "bet Val has to put Terri in a sleeper hold every night so he can get SOME rest!" Definitely Attitude era stuff with all the innuendo (with ZERO subtlety). And actually a solid technical match, despite the nutty ending

Brock Lesnar vs Hulk Hogan Smackdown August 08, 2002 Can you believe they gave this match away?? This would be a Wrestlemania match 02-03-04. The story with the two of them vying for a shot at the Rock at Summerslam would have also been a good match for a SD-only PPV. And Lesnar actually SOLD for Hogan. One of the few times I can recall a "Fair" fight when Lesnar's involved. Around this time (2002) how many others have been allowed to kick out of the legdrop? Both guys actually worked in this match and this should be considered a proper torch passing if Lesnar is able to make Hogan pass out. Closest second I can think of is Hogan tapping to Angle at KOR a couple of months prior to this. Not bad for a motivated Lesnar and a sorta-mobile Hogan.

For the record - I miss Punk with long hair. Judgement Day 2007 CM Punk vs Elijah Burke Though with Cor Von disappearing soon for family reasons and I believe Thorne was injured around that time, so the New Breed was a mess. Joey Styles and Tazz praising Punk up and down through this match, as well as lightheartedly bickering with each other still added to the match itself. Solid match. Too bad the crowd got bored. side story- I had the pleasure of working a show with Burke after his WWE stint and before he started up in TNA and his charisma put the entire locker room on lock. He spoke, EVERYONE shut up. More? Thank you. I got to see Punk win the ECW title a couple of weeks before this PPV. They had taped ECW first that particular night and my friend and I considered leaving after that match because that title match was THAT good. Noticed that Burke got a jobber entrance on a PPV.... that's meeeeeeeeeean. another great showing by both competitors, though the finish was a little sudden. Might help that Joey was allowed to actually call the match.

Second this. Also, if you want a good, underrated Raw match, watch Bulldog v Owen in the European Title finals on March 3rd 1997. I just went back and watched that match and it's great.

Back with another recommendation.
Austin vs Dude Love at Over The Edge 1998.
Probably in my top 3 matches for both guys and certainly the best over-booked, screwy, everyone's involved, Russo-as-head-writer, Attitude Era brawling type match I've ever seen. One of those matches that shouldn't have worked but really, really did. Probably because Steve and Mick work so well together. If you haven't seen it, go and put it on the Network right now.

I really like some of the "sport" elements they put into this match. Watching a classic AA Spinebuster never gets old. Neither does Arn. UNCLE PAUL WITH HAIR! And really playing up the team leader/coach/honcho role. Stone Cold Stunning Steve Austin vs. Goldust Dustin Rhodes. Just sayin... And I know the NXT cages will be much sturdier...I noticed Sting nor Madusa wanted to stay up there long and the center of the rooftops of both cages sagged. Though that did help with Sting tossing Rude into the ceiling. I also hope NXT has worked out some of the camera angle issues, too. I'll watch the Bulldog/Owen match once I catch up on these other matches, promise!

And yes, Uncle Paul with hair and his giant cell phone is amazing. Hell, the whole Dangerous Alliance is amazing. ...Unless it's the version from the WCW comics. I have been looking for an excuse to talk about this for a while now.

Rob Van Dam vs Jeff Hardy Hardcore Championship Invasion 2001 Zenmeister!! This might have been the first WWF PPV I actually paid real money for. I wasn't there, but man this was a fun match. This is where "Where do you learn how to fall off a 20 foot ladder?" Came from.... as we see Jeff playing with his favorite Super Stunt Ladder©. Every time RVD sets up for a signature move, I hear in my head "Dude, watch me do something really cool!" (especially his finisher) Follow THAT match!

The Great Khali vs Batista vs Kane Great American Bash 2007 Trivia: The ref for this match (Mickey Jay Hensen) was also a WCW ref, the poor bastard~! [/Joeystyles] Batista and Kane probably had sore backs in the morning for carrying Khali around. Still a decent all-power match. JBL and Cole are even more annoying together than they are with other crews.
