Wonder if Sia had a choice of which type of pony her character would be, or if it just happened out to being a pegasus.
Same could go for other celebrity VAs the show has done (I mean, who's to say Rara was always an Earth pony).

Finale plot revealed:
Shadow Play, Part I premieres Saturday, October 28 at 11:30a/10:30c When Sunburst discovers the lost journal of Starswirl the Bearded, Twilight becomes obsessed with saving her magical idol from a thousand-year-old prison.
Shadow Play, Part II premieres Saturday, October 28 at 12/11c With Starswirl and the other Pillars of Old Equestria back from limbo (where they’ve been trapped for a thousand years), Twilight and her friends must work together to defeat the Pony of Shadows.
We're finally getting Starswirl!!!

Ooo...now this should be interesting.
Though again, what is it with 1,000 years ago in the Pony World that makes it that so much stuff happened. I mean, save for Ponyville's foundation, what happened in the 1,000 years between Nightmare Moon incidents?
