Surprised it took this long.

I'm kinda getting Clarkson, Hammond and May vibes from this. Basically they are gone from their main show and start up something new. Whilst the old show brings in new people which the older fans will hate. Or I might just be over thinking this But yeah, This is pretty unexpected.. Was hoping for some 10 facts about Survivor Series and Royal Rumble. I mean I guess we still could but Adam made those videos. From purely a speculation POV, this seems more like a reverse version of that. Instead of one of them getting themselves fired, it's more like that the company wasn't willing to give them their proper due even though, for as much as I don't understand why storylines were around nor do I get the appeal of King Ross in general, they carried the channel through rougher times as well as being a main reason for WCPW being as successful from the get go as it was. For all the talk of what's better out of New and Old Top Gear, it wasn't like the BBC wasn't willing to keep them around and pay Clarkson and co the same amount (through stuff that, really, anyone else would have been at least suspended for) because they were ratings. They had no choice when Clarkson, essentially, broke the law. Now Hammond and May leaving...yeah, they're idiots. Even with how stuff's gone with Amazon, it wasn't like they weren't doing well for themselves on the BBC (May's Toy Stories series was, genuinely, a really damn good show), they did it from a weird sense of 'loyalty' or they saw what Amazon were offering and wanted a piece. WhatCulture knew what they have and probably thought they could replicate it whoever was there, which is something companies do when they don't realise the talent they have and think everyone's expendable. It's why, for example, Harry Shearer was almost sacked from The Simpsons because they thought they could pay more people less to do the voices he did then the salary that they were paying him. The reasons they changed their minds was fan outrage but also because the work to replace him would have cost a hell of a lot more than it would have to just keep him. This is a long-winded explanation but essentially, this smells of a company wanting to pay more people less and thinking that'll still work regardless instead of keeping the talent they have who've been the reason they're where they are in the first place.

Is that the U.K. Version of food stamps ? Partially. It's essentially job seekers allowance (which has been changed several times the last few years) where you get money from the government to help in getting you work but also help in supplementing you if you are in a low paying (I.e. Zero hours contract) job. Which you shouldn't need with a website like WhatCulture because you're working at an actual demanding job. 40p per every 1000 views a few years back was their average print salary, iirc. We're talking pennies out either way. On screen would (hopefully) be different, but you know... It's widely warned against as a website to write for, for good reason.

So essentially that means wrestlers were being paid more to wrestle in WCPW than those who were responsible for getting the promotion off the ground in the first place. I mean, that goes without saying with promotions but never to that degree, I wouldn't have thought.

So I'm guessing the boss "wants to go in a more corporate direction" as is usually the case with this things.

Well, this has all been a shock. And obviously the latest video with Jules and Hobo Joe is not going down well in the comments. Unsubscribing might be a bit of a knee jerk reaction so I guess it will pay to wait ?

Unsubscribing might be a bit of a knee jerk reaction so I guess it will pay to wait ? The idea of getting new talent in is a great idea in concept. They've needed new talent and to try new things for a while now because it felt like stuff was routine and expected. If you do it delicately and have involvement from the crew on who replaces them, it'll work out well for you. Essentially telling your audience that they're scrapping everything and starting again in a sudden motion is just never going to work out well in the short term and might hurt them more in the long term. It's really short sighted from the higher ups and sends the message that whoever people like don't matter if it's not what the company wants overall.

Exactly, yeah. If you get cocky and think of those who help you get to the dance as expendable pawns, it comes off as narrow minded of your audience. And again, I'm far from the biggest WhatCulture fan here but I can appreciate the fact that the reason they got 1 Million subscribers and a credible wrestling promotion wasn't because they changed who fronted it every few weeks. If they think they can slot people in there as quickly as they take Blampied and crew out, that's disrespectful to them and disrespectful, and potentially disasterous, to those who replace them. Look at Chelsea (outside of the horrible, sexist comments) and look at the two guys who are doing the news. They're taking head office's blows for them and it sucks.
