So I guess Twilight and Rarity aren't the only drama queens on the show, my god Pinkie take it easy, it just a pie, it is not like it is your family name.

Anyway this was an entertaining episode, but it was slice of life right to the point. So Rainbow Dash doesn't pies, I wonder if we will ever get any backstory on that.

Actually, two things have been debunked this episode:

-Rainbow Dash doesn't like pie, even if Pinkie is amazing at making them.

-She is NOT the Element of Honesty (which in earlier seasons, you'd wonder since she tended to speak up more than AJ on things).

As the Element of Loyalty, she doesn't want to disappoint Pinkie, who I think she's closest to among the Mane six. And Pinkie would have been crestfallen every time. Was it the right thing to do? Probably not, so let the RD Bashing continue unabated.

"Secrets And Pies"...gets a 9/10 from me.

Pros:

-I admit that prior to the episode I was pretty down on this one mostly to the ending being already spoiled in the IDW comic that was released beforehand and that this episode would therefore come off flat...but that wasn't the case at all. Mostly because the reveal that Dashie does not like pies was not the big climax of the episode; it dealt more with Pinkie's and Dashie's friendship and Dashie going out of her way to make it up to her friend. This helped immensely in me liking this episode because it threw me for a loop that I did not expect in a good way.

-In a season that is ripe with continuity, it continues here as Pinkie definitely shows that she is not the mare she was in "Party Of One" and "MMMystery On The Friendship Express". After smelling something fishy, she comes to her conclusion about Rainbow Dash through thorough investigation instead of prematurely thinking the worst or jumping to the wrong conclusions right away. And her portrayal in this episode was really likable, her hurt after finding out that Rainbow Dash always threw or gave away her pies felt genuine as did her forgiveness of Dashie at the end. Combined with her usual wackiness, this is among the best portrayals of her yet.

-Also thought Dashie was written well here. Sure, her lying to Pinkie was not right but she felt genuinely sorry for it and her reason for doing it came off pretty sweet. And have to say, she is pretty crafty in avoiding Pinkie seeing her eat the pies. The pie she baked to make it up to Pinkie was also a sweet gesture.

-Lots of humor in this episode that made me smile throughout (Pinkie not blinking, Gummy, Tank etc.) and good to see other characters like Dr. Flummoxed and Cheerilee again.

The third to last story where I have to mention awesome pacing again, yes!

Cons:

-OK this is a "pushing button" moment for me: wasting food. While I liked the parts where Dashie gave away the pies, I had my blood boil whenever she threw them away. I am the type of person who used to always eat up everything when my mother said that she would throw the rest away although it did not help my figure. I have stopped doing that but it still makes me cringe whenever food is thrown away.

They showed that she can share them with somepony, why not do it with all? I am sure Pinkie would not have minded if Dashie said to the first pie of the episode: "Mind if I share it with the other Bolts?". But as it is, everytime she threw the pies away instead of sharing, it made me angry. It is, however, a personal thing and if others do not mind that so much, that is OK.


Still, a 9/10 it gets.

You'd hate what I have to do at my job. I work at a cooking station at Publix, and we can only keep the food samples out for a half hour. Whatever isn't given out has to be disposed of.

See, that is probably why I could never work at a place dealing with food (besides not being good at handling out). Either I would cringe every time or I would consider eating it all to not let it go to waste.



Dashie should have just given it to Vapor Trail and Sky Stinger there after Pinkie went away. I am sure Stinger would love to taste some other pie once in a while.
