But saying that DCEU's movie trailers were good and all but "Wonder Woman" turned out shit Is this actually true? I remember Suicide Squad's trailer being a total snow job, making the movie look like a fun, madcap romp when it was really a dark, dreary, poorly edited mess. But I remember the BVS trailer being horrible and for MOS I could never get past Pa Kent's "you should let children die to protect your secret" line. Were they actually well received in general though? Yeah they were I remember seeing people hyped (God I hate that word) when each trailer hit

I remember people almost immediately complaining that there was some cool imagery but they were giving away everything in the trailer, including Doomsday and really crapping on the "I thought she was with you" line. And the Eisenluthor hate didn't start with the movie, it started with the trailer. Dude, you hate just about everything.

I'm in. Looks like it has real potential. It feels a bit like a less edgelord Kick-Ass. So has DC phased out the Captain Marvel name altogether now? How does that even work? He can't even say his own name now without transforming? Y'know, on that note, why does ANYONE else know the name Shazam? Wouldn't that be a word Billy would keep super-secret? I mean, I get why someone like Black Adam would know it, because he knew the actual guy Shazam, but unless they were standing around when he cried it out, how would anyone even know it? I wonder if the fact they couldn't advertise him as Captain Marvel hurt the character's popularity? I mean as far as I know Captain Marvel wasn't really popular anymore once DC brought him back and they couldn't really name the comic because of that other publisher.

It's almost entirely because Marvel owns the trademark for the name. Believe you me, if DC could get away with it he'd still be Captain Marvel.

But he was still known as Captain Marvel in the comic, it wasn't until fairly recently that they changed his name to Shazam. I first knew of him in justice league unlimited and he was Captain Marvel. It's still weird for me to call him Shazam. So is Freddy now Shazam Jr and Mary is now Mary Shazam lol.

It looks....cheesy.
Maybe that is the tone they want, and feel the character should have, but I feel like they've gone too far in to cheesy comedy.
Aquaman looked great though, aside from Momoa, who is the same character in everything he's in.
Here's hoping DC can get some positive momentum from one of these films, otherwise they really need to just drop it for a bit

They could, DC were the ones that changed his name for no reason. They just couldn't call the Book Captain Marvel. That was the only rule and that was made back in the 70's when DC let their Captain Marvel copyright expire. It's why his book has always been called Shazam! Actually "No reason" isn't entirely accurate... my guess as to the actual reason... they couldn't merchandise the name Captain Marvel and went with the "We don't want to confuse people with the name of the comic not being the name of the character" It was entirely DC that changed the name because New 52! Marvel didn't force a damned thing... because if they tried it would fall on it's ass because Captain Marvel (the Big Red cheese) predates Marvel comics period.

Heck, even this trailer has him do it the first time without knowing it's going to happen.

You can do his 'innocence' without making it cheesy. Waid did a good job showing why in Underworld Unleased, and of course Jerry Ordway had a great run on the character working his Golden and Silver Age stuff in to a workable but serious story. It feels like DC listened to what people told them, then went a step too far. <Shrugs> I could be wrong though, it might be great.

This really feels like we'll get an awesome Tawkny Tawny appearance too. As far as cheesy, you're either down with the whimsical side of Captain Marvel or no, but it was baked in there from the get go. You can do it without it, but it's very much a feature.

I'm not gonna lie, I've NEVER been a fan of the Captain Marvel character. Just not my bag. His rogues are interesting enough, but the character never managed to "hook" me. This trailer though? Yeah, I'm in for this.

Heck, even this trailer has him do it the first time without knowing it's going to happen. Yeah, and for a while, Captain Marvel Jr. couldn't tell people what he was called, because Captain Marvel gave him his powers, not Shazam. He said "Captain Marvel" to bring the lighting down, so he had to beat around the bush about what his name was. This, obviously, has been pretty inconsistent through various continuities and comic runs.

It’s supposed to be “Big” with superheroes and that screams cheesy but fun.

It was quirky. A lot worked, some didn't. Felt like some of the lines had too much dialogue in them. I had a sudden turnaround on Sivana, who I guess has powers now (apparently I never did read the Johns/Franks story this new Sivana is taken from). But I liked it for the most part. Hope it works out.... Oh wait. So it's perfect, then. ;p

One of my favourite things about the Young Justice animated series was the way Captain Marvel (he was still called that in the series) was portrayed... a 10 year old boy in a superhuman’s body. And the episode where Captain Marvel volunteers to overwatch the Young Justice kids.. and it’s obvious he just wants to hang out with the cool teenagers.
So yeah looking forward to this movie.
