Best X-Men cartoon IMO (though Evolution is a very close second in my book). All the character voices sounded exactly like I expected them to. Another thing I liked were the cameos and guest appearances of other Marvel characters (seeing Spider-Man in the Dark Phoenix saga was a mark-out moment for me).

For the first two seasons I would set my alarm so I could wake up,watch x men, then go back to sleep.
But I was also grown and Sat was my only day off. It wasn't until whenever it got added to the Fox aftetschool cartoons block that I saw the later seasons.
While everyone knows about how the first 2 eps aired unfinished. How many saw when an alternate version of ep 3 aired Thanksgiving day before the official start of the show?
I just happened to be flipping channels waiting on Thanksgiving dinner. Heard the theme song and was surprised thst it wasn't a rerun of the previous 2 episodes.
It's a decent show,But it doesn't hold up in some parts. Plus I am not a fan of Gambit and Jubilee.

Man, did I love this show growing up. I feel it's held up better then Spider-Man did, but obviously not as well as Batman TAS. But nothing holds up as well as Batman.
Slightly off topic, but my buddy had a stray cat sneak into his house yesterday and named it Mystique because he already had a dog named Rogue

Absolutely hated this show as a kid. Felt unrelentingly bleak and felt like they'd a straight-up allergy to the idea of a standalone episode. It was only as I got older did I develop an appreciation for its commitment to big-ass arcs and its reluctance to too greatly sugar-coat the darker side of its comic-book origins. That said, a good chuck of it has aged like a motherf***er.

It was solid in Season 1 - decent in Season 2 - and I can't remember anything from Season 3 and beyond, having given up on it well before the end. Some epic voices, though. I still read Wolverine comics hearing Cathal Dodd's voice; the same for George Buza as Beast too. And John Colicos as Apocalypse.....goddamn.

(Vampires drink plasma from their hands!) Also while they kept it true to the comics with the web swinging exposition... they did do it a bit much

Plus I am not a fan of Gambit Gasp! *slap* I grew up with the classic Byrne/Claremont X men team. By the time Gambit joined I had almost stopped reading the X titles. Plus since I grew up around some Canjuns,Gambit's accent came off really fake to. I have heard Gambit got really fleshed out after I finally quit reading X men, last issue I read was Uncanny 300.

That was a really great article. I always find it interesting how many TV shows/films succeed by the smallest of margins, one thing slightly different and it would all collapse. Guess that explains all the failures.

The entire Mr Sinister arc was great as was the Shiar Empire/Dark Phoenix, iceman episode was fun whihc featured X-Force.
Loved the cartoon as a kid, still enjoy most of it today if it is ever on.

Apocalypse in this makes the movie version seem so lame
I am the rocks of the eternal shore! Crash against me and BE BROKEN!!!!
This IS X-Men to me. That theme song is so iconic.

25 years ago today was the Sneak Preview of the X-Men 'Night of the Sentinels.' I still have my VHS of the original airing, which has a few differences in color/dialogue/scenes. Here's a clip from my copy with some dialogue that was removed after this first airing, as well as Beetlejuice's sign-off for the episode: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba7YFoegTtS Dish. What was changed for the Fox version? We've actually been watching through the series recently. Aside from the memeworthy qualities, it was advanced for a SatAM show of the time.
