My predictions: Jericho vs. Omega. I honestly don't know. Jobbing to Jericho would make Omega and NJPW in general look bad, yet it is a useful way to get the U.S. off Omega. If it is a one off, Omega wins. If Jericho is hanging around maybe he gets a transition U.S run? I'll say Omega retains. Obviously if it's a one off, Omega wins. The whole story here is Omega would win in a traditional match, as he is considered a better wrestler. But Jericho has the advantage in a street fight, due to his toughness(New Japan is quietly playing up his legit backstage fights and reputation) and experience. So based on these circumstances, I don't think Omega would look weak losing this match.

If anyone's interested, I'm going to be streaming a 2K18 sim of the show on Jan. 3rd on my Twitch channel, ChainsawChannelX and on PS4. Still unsure of the time, will probably be earlier in the night, because I think NewLegacyInc might sim it as well, and I want to watch that as well. I'll update as soon as I nail it down. I'm pretty excited how my WK12 set has come together so far. Still have some little details to add, but I like what's there so far.

My predictions for this week's event: Naito probably wins, rooting for Okada Kenny Omega Hiroshi Tanahashi Hiromu Takahashi, rooting for Scurll Young Bucks Cody Suzuki Killer Elite Squad Bullet Club So Power Struggle is done and now we're 2 months from the biggest New Japan card of the year and most of the title matches are set. We have: IWPG World Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Tetsuya Naito IWGP US Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs Chris Jericho with No Disqualifications IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs Jay White IWGP JR Heavyweight Championship: Marty Scrull (c) vs Will Ospreay vs KUSHIDA vs Hiromu Takahashi IWGP JR Tag Championship: Roppongi 3k (c) vs The Young Bucks Cody vs Kota Ibushi NEVER Openweight Championship: Minoru Suzuki (c) vs Hirooki Goto. Hair vs hair and seconds are banned from ringside. IWPG Heavyweight Tag Championship: Killer Elite Squad (c) vs Evil & Sanada NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Championship Gauntlet Match: Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Leo Tonga (Bullet Club) (c) vs Ryusuke Tagachi, Juice Robinson & Togo Makabe vs Beretta, Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii (Chaos) vs Hanson, Raymond Rowe & Michael Elgin vs Taichi, Takashi Iizuka & Zach Sabre Jr (Suzuki-Gun) Pre Show: New Japan Rumble So, what do you think of the card so far? What matches do you want to see added (I thought they teased Cody vs Makabe, which, ugh, and Ibushi should have a big match). Who does Suzuki defend against and will be it awesome or the drizzling shits all Suzuki's matches this year? How big a crowd can they draw to the Tokyo Dome? Must admit it's the Main event and the JR matches that are really getting me hyped. Okada/Naito should be amazing, Takahashi is gonna tear the house down and I like R3k a lot. I only know Jay White by name and judging only by his appearance today, I'm not feeling him in such a big role. I don't dig the look and he doesn't feel like a star to me. But we'll see, I didn't get Naito until the G1 climax finals. Omega vs Jericho should be quite a spectacle. It's not going to match Omega's matches with Okada, Naito or Ishii, but damn it feels like such a big deal! I'm really hoping Ibushi, Ishii and Nagata get big matches as well after the incredible years they've had.

I'm interested in the card but no way am I staying up that late for it. I'll be glad to DVR the first 3 hours on AXS, watch it on Sunday, and then watch the rest of it as it airs. In a way I am more interested in what will happen after this. If Naito wins will Omega target him for the IWGP title? Will Jericho win and hang around?

I have zero knowledge of NJPW. Is there a reason why this is on a Thursday? It's always on Jan 4th no matter what?

I have zero knowledge of NJPW. Is there a reason why this is on a Thursday? It's always on Jan 4th no matter what? This is only the twelfth "Wrestle Kingdom" but it's the 27th straight January 4th Tokyo Dome show. Under whatever name, it's the consistent date for their yearly megacard.

I have zero knowledge of NJPW. Is there a reason why this is on a Thursday? It's always on Jan 4th no matter what? New Years is basically a week long holiday in Japan, and 1/4 became the date they consistently ran their Tokyo Domes on beginning in 1992 with a WCW joint-supershow. If I recall correctly it may also be an anniversary date; the first NJPW card was held in March of 1972, but I think the 1/4 date also holds significance for the company as a whole.

I’m sure it’s been answered but does New Japan world have a trial and will wrestle kingdom be watchable on it if there’s a trail ?

Proud to say this will be my sixth straight live Tokyo Dome event. NJPW World has been a blessing, since before this, it wasn't as easy or as cheap to watch these live. I think I dropped $30 once on a show I was only 50% sure I'd get to see, since Google Translate was still sort of primitive in 2013. Save for WK 9, which was on American PPV, I've never watched a Tokyo Dome with more than like one or two other people. This year, there are about ten of us grabbing Buffalo Wild Wings and cans of Red Bull for the festivities. A bunch of first-time NJPW viewers drawn in from the 2017 Okada/Omega trilogy. There are a couple who were interested when they heard Chris Jericho would be there. This is an exciting time to be a fan.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 4th so I can't watch this live. I'm sorry Naito, forgive me.

Having just come off a weekend of Red Bull-sponsored events, felt I should give you the quick heads up that (As you probably know) the Red Bull post-caffeine crash can be pretty brutal, which is why I'm happy to say I had no such crash with their new three sugarless flavors. Was never a fan of the standard old sugarfree ones, but these new ones are pretty great AND all three mix great with Absolut vodka if you're of the drinking persuasion.

Oh dude, Sugar Free Red Bull all the way. Honestly, it's the midcard that can make someone on the west coast sleepy. I'm from Orange County, CA, so the main event matches usually go on at about 3/4AM, but it's that 1-3AM slot that kills the whole 'being awake' thing. I remember last year being inches from knocking out before Naito/Tana began, and then going to sleep shaking from excitement after Okada/Omega. This year's card is promising, but Hirooki Goto has not been kind to my ability to stay awake many of times. I actually fell asleep for an hour of Dominion thanks to this vacuum of charisma. Lol I'm sure by 6AM PST, this thread will be like a post-WWE show. This Jericho addition will likely be a bigger deal than we think it is, which says a lot.

Gonna be my first WK and first live NJPW show. I'm on the west coast so it'll be tough, but I'm looking forward to the show.

For shits and giggles, I'll make a few predictions. I am not really betting the farm on these, just things I could see happening.
Omega retains, but in a fashion that leaves room open for a rematch or two for the US touring.
Naito wins, possibly with the setup that Okada loses strength on a move after a grueling match to that point, given it's been suggested that they've setup a narrative that the long reign and title defenses have taken their toll on Okada. Naito will either kick out of a Rainmaker, or duck it, hitting him with a Destino to beat him.
Tahahashi wins his match to further push Daryl popularity.

Being in the eastern time zone, this whole card will be when I am sleeping. I think a nap before the show and then caffeine during will be necessary. I do find that the midcard is usually the hard part to stay awake if I watch shows at the end of the night. I still might just watch the show in the morning, but I really like the idea of staying awake for the show.
