So which title now has more value? NWA or TNA? TNA without hesitation. At least it has a pretense of life in it and some level of a spotlight, the NWA is a corpse that barely even shambles.

So Joey Janela just tweeted that he was asked to be part of the NWA angle at Cage of Death, but once he found out that it would just lead to Aldis/Storm he said no

If you wanted an NWA Champ who was actually relevant on the indies, you could do worse than Janela. Dude's all over the map, and has the self-promotion hustle few guys have.

Y'know, since he can or soon will be able to, is Aldis any better off going by Magnus? He'd have name recognition, but a lot of it not being for good reasons.

Pretty anti-climactic end to Storm's reign but it makes sense since they did an injury angle with Jocephus about a week ago, so Tim simply succumbed to the fighting champion's curse. I really enjoyed the "Ten Pounds of Gold" series they were doing with Tim Storm. I wonder if some heel version of this with Nick Aldis is gonna carry forward. I really like the old school approach that NWA is going with but it really can make them look like a dinosaur when they're intermingling with organizations like CZW in the first place. I enjoy Tim Storm as champion but even if the match went perfectly, I don't know if a perfect Tim Storm match is something that's gonna be a big thrill at a CZW show.

I just got back from watching the show live, I cannot understate how bad of a match it was. Aldis basically just did a Samoan drop after a 5 minute squash for the pin. The match was unannounced and came out of nowhere since after the Tremont match, Tim Storm came out and was challenged by Tremont, Ethan Page and MJF...before Austin Idol came out to Christmas music to cut a promo on Storm bringing out Aldis. After one of the worst matches I've ever seen live, Aldis cuts a 10 minute long promo about how he would never wrestle here again and hated anyone. Nothing about this was interesting or entertaining in the slightest. I guess that explains the overall "meh" reaction to the finish.

Janela has a bigger following than the nwa. He could get them places but apparently Corgan thinks Magnus is the future...I don't get that. They wasted a big opportunity.

Yeah, I think they wanted to have a kind of inverse "Shane Douglas tosses down the NWA title for ECW" moment, and it just didn't land at all. Even Shane and Scorpio had a really good match leading up to that moment. This sounds like it was a squash match. For a "World" title. Yeah also Douglas and Scorp were established ecw guys that the fans cared for. I wonder how many fans that ordered Cage of Death even knew or care that Aldis and Storm were having a match for the nwa belt. In ROH there were matches for the nwa championship, but it worked because Adam Pearce worked in the company for years and he also faced featured ROH guys in Brent Albright and Nigel. Storm is the perfect guy for local shows, but his style doesn't appeal to a bigger IWC promotion.

This is a little disappointing. I would have been ok with another month or two with Storm as champion, I bought into his nice guy act. It'll be interesting to see if Magnus can help get the belt, promotion and himself more over. Maybe Tim got injured and they had to rush it. Still, I will watch and hope they get better. Being there live, it appeared Storm could've possibly broken his wrist on the first move of the match. so you're telling me the one match of the night you could pretty much guarantee is safe, and someone breaks a bone?

If Tim got hurt, he got hurt. Makes me wonder if the promo was always planned or if Aldis had to kill some time that had been allotted for them. Granted, it wouldn't make it a great promo or something, but it'd be understandable.

I don't care how thin your roster is, no promotion should ever make Aldis/Magnus champion. The guy makes Jinder Mahal look like Randy Savage.

Oof. I just watched the match on Cage of Death. What a mess. I actually liked the opening angle, where Ethan Page and Matt Tremont both said they wanted shots only for Aldis to demand his contractual rematch like a jerk and snatch the chance away from CZW. What I didn't like was Austin Idol showing up. It seemed pretty clear no one gave a damn about him, and he just seemed a weird addition.
I've liked Storm though and I'm invested in the angle. I'll be keeping track of the belt. If you guys ever want to see a great NWA title match, watch Albright/Pearce from ROH. It's on Adam Pearce's YouTube channel and is super easy to find.
