I really like what Fox is doing with its solo films right now.
They're counter-programming WB&MCU by going smaller, which is a nice variety to have. New mutants, Deadpool 2. Not sure about Dark Phoenix but hopefully they don't go the straight-up superhero movie route with it.
I really hope they come at it from the Private Eye angle. I can see Franco really diving in to the whole idea of playing someone with multiple personalities and yelling at different versions of himself for disobeying him.

I'm on board IF he plays the part as if it were being played by Tommy Wiseau.

Man I must be a bigger comic fan than old cartoon fan lol. I don't think I even remember that cartoon. Franco is amazing and can play just about anything. His Multiple Man could be amazing.

Does Jamie Madrox really warrant a solo movie?

Seriously, this whole Hanna Barbera universe idea is better off just having Future Quest be adapted as a movie because that book kicked so much ass.

Does Jamie Madrox really warrant a solo movie? Eh, there are stupider characters to roll the dice on, especially if they play it with Madrox being a "noir-ish" detective who has to struggle with the fact that his copies are independent entities. Could be a fresh take on a genre that's in danger of getting bloated on it's own cliches.

I like the smaller scale for most of the stuff Fox has been doing, but I think going small with Dark Phoneix for the second time is a mistake. It should have cosmic consequences, otherwise it demeans the true power of the Phoenix Force. I want to see her destroy a planet and face galactic ramifications as the X-Men battle for her life.

Making it a B-story for the mutant war was a bigger misstep to me. I've heard rumblings its a 2-parter so for film 1 they could do a grounded psychological thriller kind of movie. Jean thinks she's going crazy, the Hellfire Club is trying to manipulate her, etc. X-men vs Hellfire club happen and ends with Phoenix taking over Jean and her flying away from Earth to end it. Then part 2 could loop in the Shi'ar and do something in space.

I love the straight up superhero stuff and probably always will, but sub-genres within bringing variety is never a bad thing. Sorta like Vertigo, Epic, Kitchen Sink et al for the books.

Apparently, this James Franco/Multiple Man movie, it if still happens, will be hard-R: "Our bottom line MO is, how can we push this into new ground? A little bit, but still make it entertaining? [But] what I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the X-Men people have done with Deadpool and Logan — it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years — but they are going to go hard R. And we’re going to take this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. So we’re working with Simon Kinberg on an X-Men property." Source: nerdist.com/james-franco-x-men-r-rated-multiple-man/Not gonna lie, hard-R Multiple Man movie starring James Franco almost sounds like something out of superhero movie Madlibs. If nothing else, it should be quite interesting.
