Here in this thread, let's talk about our holiday plans, gifts given and received, and just wish each other good times

Have this curiosity as to whether or not any radio stations "ban" Baby It's Cold Outside this year due to news items in Hollywood and in politics lately. (They haven't here...though I didn't hear the song the first couple days our usual stations went all-Christmas)
For those in the Jersey/NY area, do you know of WOLD 107.9? THAT should have gone all-holiday, only because their usual playlist has much more variety and rarities than the other oldies, er, greatest hits stations. You'd probably hear some good stuff other than the same block of 30 songs every other hour.
Am also thinking...over in NJ/NY, WPIX is one local channel that sticks to its traditions from past decades during this time. They still play March of the Wooden Soldiers (Laurel and Hardy movie) on Thanksgiving AND Christmas. The Yule Log has been back since 2001 and adds new additions every other year (now up to 5 hours of music, AND as of last year includes the original 1966 film and the more popular 1970 version), and the station also brings out the Christmas special of The Magic Garden, which was a local children's show on the station. Do you have any TV stations that do the same, outside of NYC?

The Dean Martin version is playing at this moment. So apparently not.

I'm grateful for music services like Spotify and Apple Music. Because I can actually make a Christmas playlist with all good stuff. Including film scores from Christmas films and songs I associate with the Holidays even if they are not holiday songs. For years I have had to put up with radio stations that play mostly the shitty Christmas songs and those awful $2 Christmas albums my Mum would buy and play that made me want to drown myself in a bowl of punch. Here is my list so far: itunes.apple.com/au/playlist/christmas-2017/pl.u-9N8ypCdPKWy

THERE'S A SANTA 867-5309?!!?
I'll be damned, there is:
(Now, where's my iTunes password?)
Can't beat Darlene Love, reminds me of Gremlins' opening.

My family has been pretty hard-up financially this year so we all agreed to just skip the whole thing this year....and then today my parents are like "We decided we want to do it!" And now everyone is trying to make money appear out of thin air.

I have not started on my shopping yet, but I will get on that. I am also doing a special gift for my sister and brother-in-law in that I am doing a picture of one of my nephews and Photoshop it into something artsy. I also feel more in the spirit as when it's more than halfway through November, I get more in the mood by listening to Christmas music and watching those cheesy Christmas TV movies on Hallmark and Lifetime.
As for anything else, I would be willing to donate some food to some needy people.

So do I watch The Grinch/Frosty or Santa Claus is Coming to Town tonight? Leaning towards SCICTT but Freeform generally airs that one a lot.

Kind of amazed that every year I seem to hear a 'new' Christmas or holiday song, meaning one I've never heard before. Like this little ditty:

Here I am in the middle of the stress of hoping this Christmas will be okay and not being able to get into the mood or spirit of it until I know it will be.
Tis the season for crippling anxiety!

Already hating most Christmas music and the season has barely started. I'm wishing my car had a CD player so I could throw in some Morbid Angel or Cryptopsy instead.
Oh, and Black Friday still sucks and I wish it wasn't a thing.

Oh, and Black Friday still sucks and I wish it wasn't a thing. Locally a radio station started playing Xmas music 2 weeks ago. Thankfully got a CD player in my car, that also has a sub port and an aux port.

I'm well on top of things for Christmas this year, helped by the fact I've been working Monday-Friday in my retail job for the past 7 months which has gave me a little extra at the end of the month to what I was on just doing weekends. Bought a load of WWE stuff for my 6 year old nephew (calendar, annual, the Top 10s book, PJs and a Razor Ramon figure), a Fisher Price fun purse, wooden shape game and a gift card for Zara (for clothes) for my 18 month old niece, a Molton Brown bath gel set and a £30 gift card for my mum and a Yankee Candle gift set and a £30 gift card to River Island for my sister. Just need to get gift cards for my Sister's boyfriend, my cousin and her husband and my other cousin as well as something for my dog
Not listened to any Christmas music yet, don't start doing that till December rolls round and my movie watching doesn't start till the week before (will be spending a week watching every Star Wars film before going to see Last Jedi on the 15th), taking in my usual selection of the first 2 Home Alone films, Mickey's Once and Twice upon a Christmas, Mickey's Christmas Carol, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch (the animated one), Frosty the Snowman and The Snowman, finishing with my two all time favorite Christmas films, Muppet Christmas Carol and Nightmare Before Christmas on Christmas Eve.

I really don't understand why retailers in New Zealand are trying to make Black Friday sales a thing over here.

When i was at best buy, they had a dvd set of simpsons christmas episodes. For whatever reason Mr Plow was on the list. I felt like that nerd in the Itchy, Scratchy and Poochy episode, hoping someone got fired for that blunder lol

I would like to use this thread to state emphatically that Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie. If y'all wanna fight I'll be at the water tower.

Guess now's the time for me to stop listening to any radio station. I've dreaded holiday music ever since the employer at my old job played nothing but holiday music from the Saturday after Black Friday until Christmas Day. I don't even hate the music, but it's like the delicious meal you have one too many times and can't stand it anymore.
