What are some good gifts for someone who says they don't want anything, "you don't have to get me anything", or just really vague about Christmas presents?

A tie rack motor!
(Or a gift card. You might need to spend the extra $5 for the Visa gift card.)

Someone like me would not turn down practical gifts like comfy socks or a nice sweatshirt.

I for real don't get them anything.
Then the next year, they specifically tell me something they want.

A small bottle of syrup. Not actual maple syrup though. Just that cheap, maple flavored "breakfast syrup" Aunt Jemima stuff they sell at the supermarket. That'll teach them.

Just get them a gift card to a cheap restaurant. (Fast food, IHOP, etc.)

I've been telling some people to make a donation to the SPCA or the Salvation Army or someone that could use it.

Depends what your person is into, but last year I did a "movie night" basket for my friend with a few DVDs, a blanket, bags of popcorn and a cinema gift card. That went down well

It's more a Halloween thing, but you can never go wrong with a good old-fashioned rock.

Tin of cookies or popcorn or what have you. If they like it, great, but even if they don't, they get a handy container out of it.

If they really don't want anything but you know they would still appreciate something, gift them some decoratively wrapped food treats. Especially if you can think of something they enjoy, but don't think to get for themselves all that often. Depending on your skills in the kitchen (and your ability to make something you know they would genuinely enjoy), bonus points if you make the treats yourself, with little personal touches.

If I could have one wish this Christmas season it would be for all the children of all the world to gather together and sing a song of harmony and peace.

I just tell people money, as I usally get awful clothes by a sibling or a wrong size, so I can go in and select what I want, right size or put it on a good night out on the town with friends..
