It'd be ironic if Bucks/Cody lose a ton of money on this after bragging about how much money they make. This doesn't seem like it makes sense financially.

They'll book their friends, who will work for whatever amount of money they decide to pay them. The real expense is renting the venue. If they draw thousands of people, that will be covered via ticket sales.

I think they'd need both Punk and Bryan for this to work.

If this is in Chicago, I bet Punk works the main event to help out the Bucks. I think they are super tight. I am sure Punk and Cody are cool too, they worked a lot of years together.

I don't really get the "okay, then what?" argument against this happening, on a fan level this is a really interesting experiment. They seem savvy enough to know this is a risky project, I don't see why it matters if this is only a one off thing or not.

I do think that Cody needs to be aware that if Punk decides to come back, Punk is usurping his place alongside the Young Bucks, and the gravy train is over for him, though.

I really, really doubt that; Cody is obviously tight with the Bucks now, and if I had to wager I'd say the odds that Punk would go back to a full time indy grind are beyond low. Should Punk do a comeback it will almost assuredly be of the "mini" variety: an appearance at a Chicago show like this one, maybe a couple of spots in Ring of Honor, etc.

"But these guys aggravated me by getting over and being posted on reddit and this forum!!! I hope it fails miserably!!!" I seriously hopes this goes well and we can see more success in wrestling. I know it won't be a consistent thing, but if it at least opens a few more doors for other companies to start thriving, I'm all for it.

Rooting for Chi-Town.... not that I'm bias or anything. Definitely rooting for Chicago, it's a three hour drive for me! Not paying the plane tickets for LA.

I don't really buy that when they have guys like Hangman Page around at all times. Kenny and the Bucks are up at the forefront of all this, but if Punk were to impossibly come back full-time and get involved with the Bullet Club it would completely change that power dynamic, rather than just swapping out Cody for their new pal.

Never mind Page, I only just got reminded this week CHASE OWENS is still a Bullet Club member. And I like Chase Owens.

I'm actually pretty excited he's gonna go train with Haku to master the Tongan Death Grip. That's some interesting background storytelling.

THAT’s the secret weapon they were hyping up at a random Tag League interview? Nice! I like it.

Yeah...I don't get some people's salacious desire to see this/BC fail, but I do find it slightly amusing. As a southern Californian so close to Irvine, I'm crossing my fingers. But if them having the show in Chicago ups the chance of Punk appearing than I'd much rather prefer that.

They seem savvy enough to know this is a risky project, I don't see why it matters if this is only a one off thing or not. That's a fair point. I'm fans of the Bucks and a huge mark for Cody, my concern is that they burst their bubble too soon, but I tend to be a 'play it safe' guy with wrestling. If they're just aiming for a one off show, then great, I hope they succeed. I just feel like if they're not careful they could end up with he old 'They had a show that needed a stadium, now they have a stadium that needs a show' diminishing returns if they do the same again. It feels like a lightning in a bottle moment. Not rooting for them to fail, just being (perhaps overly) pragmatic.

In my mind, the keys to success for this are:
1. A low general admission ticket price, to make it affordable to all wrestling fans in the city it takes place. If the goal is the most fans in the building as possible, rather than a specific dollar amount, cheap G.A. is a necessity. Like ten bucks. Cheap enough for big wrestling fans to potentially bring their friends who aren't necessarily big fans.
2. Kenny Omega on the show.
3. CM Punk on the show.
4. Bryan Danielson on the show.
5. Booking some lucha names, at least for one big lucha match on the show, to draw that audience. Some of the biggest attended shows in recent years were those that drew from the lucha audience. That element alone could mean an extra 1,000+ tickets sold in a major market with a large hispanic population.
What are the other key factors to potentially reaching that 10,000 goal?

This might sound like a smaller factor than the others but booking Joey Ryan and Candice LaRae would get a bump.
I say this not just because they’re two of the biggest indie names right now but because they are genuine global indie stars.
When I was at the OTT show last weekend, 2200 people chanted for Joey Ryan. In Dublin, Ireland.
Will most of those people go to Chicago? Probably not but if a guy can get over and only go to Ireland once....that’s something.
