Looking into it a little this is at least the third time he's been accused of such a thing so... We'll see I guess.

Why a lawsuit though? That's why I have a hard time believing certain accusations because it always involves a lawsuit and not a criminal trial. If it's true that Singer raped this boy then forget lawsuits, interviews, and threats. Go to the police and put him in prison.

I'm guessing statute of limitations are involved that prevent a criminal investigation, given this apparently happened in 2003.

In Washington, presumably where it happened due to the filing of the lawsuit in Seattle, the statute is ten years, or three years past the accuser's 18th birthday if the accuser was under 14 at the time of the rape.

Yeah, I think we were all waiting for that shoe to drop.
Now we have to wait for all the people who worked with him to be 'completely shocked'

Yeah, I think we were all waiting for that shoe to drop. Now we have to wait for all the people who worked with him to be 'completely shocked' I'm not going to go that in depth about how I feel about this topic because I study subjects like this in order to connect the dots in case something does go left. You can play the guilty association game and say birds of a feather flock together, but when it comes to this subject you have say "How is it that many of your associates were in trouble me with the law for the same thing?", "Why does your name come up in the same stories?" I saw that documentary "An Open Secret" a while ago. Singer looking suspect is putting it lightly. As kid you could be indicted by your parents or neighbors for less for some small petty stuff.

This is far from the first time he's ever been accused though. This stuff was talked about YEARS before the current climate.

One of the usual suspects for this crime, I'm afraid.

I hope the survivor (don't like the word victim) finds peace, resolution and closure through this, as with all these horrible cases. I don't care if there's literally no major names left in cinema, everyone who has suffered this abuse deserves t hat.

How long has that been in effect for California? Because there might be an ex post facto argument if it was a relatively recent new development and the crime's statute of limitations expired before the passing of said law. Unfortunately, California is one of the only states where there are no statutes of limitations for sexual assaults. More states need to get on the ball with that. Also I wonder if this one will actually stick to Bryan Singer? He's been accused before and the charges/suits have been dropped for whatever reasons.

I believe it's recent, as it was a news headline in my Google search when I was looking for the statutes in response to the post I replied to.
