Anyone know what this means about the Cracked Movie Podcast? I love that show.

I think they just ran out of shit to talk about. There were only so many 'Ten (Blanks) You didn't (BLANK)" you can write. Or stuff like "Five heroes that are really villains" or "Five villains that are really heroes" Not sure WatchMojo makes an absolute killing on this type of stuff

They finally got around to updating their paid app to work with iOS 11. Now looks like they’re gonna abandon that and stick their hands out for more money.

His takedown of Heidi & Spencer may be one of the most brutally hilarious over-the-top critiques ever. haha man i forgot about them...His stuff with MMA and wrestling was great as well I still go back to his wrestling/MMA articles and his comic book articles. I don't dislike political stuff, so long as it's funny. My favorite comedians are Bill Hicks and Chris Rock. Cracked's been putting out articles that were somewhere between a chore and a bore to get through, and firing the only in-house talent that, you know, had talent is going to bite them in the ass something fierce. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no Cracked this time next year, or else it's bought and overhauled into something completely unrecognizable.

The two year lull of photoshop contests consisting of the SAME person doing each picture definitely turned me off...when we all know this forum is a pioneer as far back as the WrestleCrap days for that stuff

It's crazy, digital media effectively made traditional media a dinosaur, and now it seems like digital media sites are dying in droves. And I'm not all that sure anything is going to take it's place. Again, it's a cautionary tale when you let a major comglomerate throw you a ton of money and you try to still be the cool guy in the room. It isn't going to work.

I loved Seanbaby from back in the day. He had great guest articles in EGM.

I think the biggest problem with both traditional media and digital media was that they let the "free content" genie out of the bottle early and that's a hell of a thing to try and put back in. Ad revenue can only do so much in this day and age.

I stopped reading Cracked with regularity ages ago but I still give it a glance occasionally... only to find absolutely nothing I actually want to read. About the only thing I bother to read on there anymore is whenever there's something about unsolved crimes.

Last 'must read' article I can think of was probably Mara Wilson's one on the pitfalls of being a child star.
And that was years ago.

Been noticing more articles with titles like "Why you should hate (movie, tv show, person etc)" recently., followed by sloppily researched reasons to back up said assertion.
Huffington Post is another site that publishes similar articles only they demand the readers should love certain movies, tv shows, music, people etc for equally vague or poorly argued reasons.

I thought some of their video content was becoming better in the last couple months, though some of it seemed like a reharsh of some of the articles. I can’t remember the last time I actually sat and read one of those, I normally scroll threw them these days.
I started losing interest in the site when there was one article complaining about normal life things (parades, movies in the park) that aren’t actually fun. The guy just sounded miserable.

Also it seemed to be really smart, informative articles for a while including history, science, notable people and obscure facts ...and now it's mainly pop culture and political stuff. Which is oversaturated on the internet as it is.

I just finished an article where the writer says Blazing Saddles is a riff on Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. That's all well and good, but my issue with this article are the writer's assumptions of Rand's work and philosophies. Which, like so many others that have read about, but never actually read, Ayn Rand, he gets dead goddamn wrong.
Granted he's far from the only one, but God it makes me so mad.

I think that's my major issue with the majority of their content now. It's pretty clear in most cases that the person writing either doesn't know much about what they're writing about, they have a 'wiki summary' knowledge that they then present as in depth OR they deliberately misinterpret things. It's lazy at best and antagonistic at worst. Wrestling is what initially unites us all here for the most part, and we all have wildly different perspectives and likes and dislikes but I'm pretty sure none of us would enjoy an article on wrestling written either by someone who's kinda heard that The Rock used to wrestle presenting as if they're Meltzer or someone who set out to antagonise (like Russo does from time to time). Good way to alienate an audience which, well, they seem to be doing.

The most recent article I read included this little peach, regarding Jurassic Park's breeding dinosaurs: Really? It's explicitly stated in the movie that some species of frog can and do change sex in a female-dominant population, and that the dinosaurs were cloned using frog DNA. Do they really need more than that? Does the movie have to provide PowerPoint presentations complete with footage of the physical changes taking place before it's explained adequately enough for them?

They wrote an article last week I think complaining about the movie "Blood Diamond", because it featured Leonardo DiCaprio as an African.
They seemed completely unaware that some South Africans are white.
