I think John Krasinski might of been better acting-wise..but Evans turned out to be awesome in the role. Especially looks wise. Who knew the cocky douche who played such a funny Johnny Storm would embody Captain f***ing America.

He's got a long way to go before replacing Reb Brown. No love for Matt Salinger? Philistines... I'm a Dick Purcell guy myself. As far as Evans/Cap/iconic, I'm not sure I'm fully in that camp myself, but I also admit I haven't really paid attention to how deeply he's ingrained himself as the character in others. I'm down with RDJ getting there, and I'd say that Jackman's Wolverine is definitely as iconic as Reeve's Supes.

Agree with you on Jackman Mads, and I think passage of time will show Evans as Cap to join that list.

Evans was born to play the part, he is Captain America to me. I usually just refer to him as Captain America, not Chris Evans, if I ever speak about him.

I respectfully disagree. He's certainly good and fits the role, but he is probably the most vanilla and replaceable next to Ant Man and Paul Rudd.

Well, he's been in three good Captain America movies as opposed to Reeve's two.
However, I don't think anyone can be as iconic as Reeve as Superman was a magical brew of fading screen legends, a Biblical story, action, romance, an unknown actor that looked like he walked out of the comic book page and of course, that soundtrack.

Well, he's been in three good Captain America movies as opposed to Reeve's two. Yeah, but Reeves carries himself better than anyone else could have through 3 & 4. Worth watching just for him alone. Agreed. The first big comic book movie was blessed to have actually been so damn good with all these components magically woven into place.

Related to the Reeve Superman discussion, the first film in that series was just inducted into the National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

The only real argument right now would be time. He's definitely getting there.

I can't picture Krasinski playing the role at all, was he in the running? He was. Didn't he tell the story on Conan about how he even got to the point of putting on the suit? But he saw the other candidates and pretty much took himself out of the running. He might have said if he had been in shape like he got into for the Benghazi movie, he would have been more confident.
