Alexa's push is a classic example of WWE picking up on something genuinely good then completely running it into the ground until everyone is sick of it. Her winning the title back from Sasha after such a short amount of time was the moment where I was like, "Okay, this is just too much." Yeah, her beating Sasha to get the belt back the week after SummerSlam was a head scratcher for me. Especially when Sasha already had the reputation of being a choker in title defenses and needed the win. If I recall correctly, they originally weren’t going to put the belt on Sasha at all. Alexa was feuding with Bayley and was supposed to go over and spin off into a feud with Nia, but that changed when Bayley got hurt. For whatever reason, they did a title change and then switched it back to her and didn’t follow through on the Nia program. I don’t know if they were trying to be cute with a surprise title change and then got cold feet with Nia, but that didn’t end up doing anybody any favours.

I mean, it's "acting ability," right? The answer to the question is that she's a good actor. Yeah, I keep forgetting that wrestling is primarily about acting.

It bothers me that she's a top heel who doesn't get booked as a heel, and unfortunately she's not a good enough seller to make faces' offence look convincing even when they do get in shots. (As opposed to the Bayley feud where Alexa got to give dozens of kendo stick shots and received none.) She gets booked so strong (and as always right in the end) that there's never really a reason for crowds to boo her, which is another reason her booking is so destructive to faces. Its also telling that she generally gets near-silence during her matches, despite the considerable effort the company goes to to build her up, the face of every poster, in every PPV commercial, etc:
