Would have to be in the Spring. Going head to head against the NFL is a nightmare The XFL tried that last time and the NFL bullied ESPN to not talk about it

Yeah you can ask the people behind playmakers how much of a bully the NFL can be Yeah- this seems less like "Vince plans to reform the XFL". If the NFL are bullies, then the fact that there's no opening for Vince will do it. The XFL succeeded not just because of Vince's name, but more specifically- Vince was friends with Dick Ebersol, and NBC NEEDED football- ANY football, in 2000-01. Now, on the other hand- the climate is different. NBC has the NFL. CBS has the NFL. Fox has the NFL. ABC has ESPN, and ESPN has the NFL. There IS NO OPENING for the XFL to take place unless Vince is willing to go to the CW to give them a football league...and Vince and the CW didn't have a good relationship last time, and the CW has shown no apparent interest in getting in on sports since it's formed. (Maybe if he tries dealing with the Turner networks for football...but as any wrestling fan knows...yeah, not happening.) I heard whispers it might be "Vince is trying to buy a pro sports TEAM, not a LEAGUE"...and that seems more viable to me.

Forget bout the XFL for a moment, Are there any major sports teams looking for new owners about now? In theory, any of them could if the right money comes along. Interestingly, from a soccer purpose, Newcastle United just got new owners a few weeks ago so that long rumour can be finally be put to rest. But then I guess all Premier League teams seem to be accounted for.

Only a matter of time before an NFL owner gets in trouble Because if anyone doesn't have any scandals and skeletons in his closet that might become a concern, it's Vince McMahon.

Vince's desire to be known as anything other than a 'rasslin promoter is really f***ing old by now. If he's so ashamed and wrestling is so bad, why doesn't (or didn't) he sell the company? Because it was the only thing he was ever decent at. Everything else was a disaster

I'm not counting this one out. Given the current political climate in this country and the way the NFL was dragged front and center in this continuing culture war, this is a shrewd business move by Vince imo. If he becomes the guy who says "Let's Make Football Football Again," mandates standing for the anthem, gets looser on player safety, and places these teams in spots where that kind of branding goes over well, he's got himself a decent chance to making a dent in the NFL machine. Not a sizeable one, but a sliver of that pie is still a lot of cashola. If 2017 has taught us anything, it's that if you can trick people into believing that you're with them while not expressly espousing their beliefs, you can exploit their nearsightedness in tribalism to the tune of stacks and stacks of cash. Call Vince what you want, but the dude understands the hustle to make that dollar. This is a risk, but it is in a monumentally better place to succeed than the original launch in 2001. People posting angrily on facebook and retweeting other opinions from likeminded thinkers about the real life political climate is one thing,it's another thing to get them to spend 3 hours to watch crappy minor league football cause they are pissed at the NFL. I remember that JD Power poll, which you can take however you want, that said nearly a quarter of all respondents said they were watching less NFL because of Anthem protests and there are people who have openly written letters to teams saying they no longer support them over these issues. I am not saying these people are a majority, but they can be a significant minority if you're looking to try and make money here. That's all this is about, making money. Besides, it isn't as if the quality of play in the NFL has been lighting it up this season either.

Vince buying an American football team seems more likely. It was team interest that eventually led to the XFL's creation, and any league Vince tried to start now would have XFL failure stink all over it anyway.
Another thing to consider though. Vince and his dad were both involved with boxing for a while. Hmm.

Vince and his dad were both involved with boxing for a while. Hmm. That is true, and Vince himself helped provide production and promotion for the infamous Ali/Inoki fight which eventually lead to PPV as it is now. It's trying to find out where he'd fit in because it's not like people are going to choose Alpha over someone like Golden Boy for boxing representation without a really good reason. Maybe Vince takes a shot with MMA? Only problem is where he'd fit there too. He's not exactly going to buy someone like BAMMA.

Alpha, LOL. It might do better this time around simply because of a certain high up connection he now has that he can exploit, but even then I doubt that will be of much help to him. Honestly there are a lot better ways he could use that money than to try and launch another failed vanity project. There are sick and starving kids in Africa. Shit, there are sick and starving kids in Appalachia, the deep south, and inner cities. I hope I don't run afoul of rules here, but I doubt Linda has the clout to get him funds as the WWE itself isn't a "small business".
