Everyone talks about how Hogan and Austin would not work in 2002 because of style clashes. What about Austin vs. Page in 2001? Too bad these guys never had a match let alone any real interaction.
Would things be better if DDP stalked Debra instead of Sara? At least he could get a win or at least some offense in on Austin?
So was DDP too broken down to work a good match against Austin, or could they pull off a **** match at Summerslam 2001?

it was more of vince not wanting any WCW wrestler beating or even getitng an upper hand to any of his wrestlers.
But i dont think it would have worked anyways, as ddp will want to diamond cut austion, and given austins neck, it would be impossible to do
plus ddp wasnt liked in the wwe locker as he apperently pissed off undertaker, when ddp wanted their match entirely scripted

Austin and DDP had been friends in WCW, so Austin would have probably been more receptive, but I don't think it'd have been world changing.
It's Vince, sure, but beyond him, I don't think a lot of guys in the company were leaping to volunteer to put over WCW guys who entered the company in one big flood. "Ooh, me, me, give my spot away!" was not a very common sentiment, I'd imagine.
Vince wanted another brand, which would happen later with Raw vs Smackdown, but no channel wanted to bite, and so, the Invasion limped along.

DDP shouldn't have been a stalker. One of the many simple fixes that could've made the Invasion work with what they had is to have faces and heels on both sides. So, DDP as a face in WCW could've worked.

If it happened instead of Taker burying DDP, then yes.

He would have gotten buried just as bad as he was in his program with Taker.

Far and away the most credible guy to cross the line. Him vs. The Undertaker was fine, but how it was executed was not. If Austin had been more willing to play ball and sell him as a real threat, I feel like everyone would have come out ahead.

Page wanted to work with The Rock in a People's Champion vs People's Champion angle. Consider that

2001 DDP was not nearly as cool as 1997 DDP. The guy wasn't nearly as big of a deal at that point in time.

I really wanted the People's champ vs People's champ. I know that DDP had lost some lustre during his run with the Jersey Triad but look at the pop he got when he debuted in WWE. My friends and I were a fan of both organizations and I think the best use of him would have been a feud with Rock. Maybe 2/3 with Rock winning the feud overall but enough to show DDP as a threat. Then he could have transitioned into a feud with Austin, especially if they went with Austin as the leader of the alliance. DDP could have feuded with him for supremacy. We might not have got THAT segment where the alliance spent 20 minutes giving Austin a verbal blowjob that made the entire alliance look like a bunch of chumps.

Austin called all his matches in ring. Page probably wouldn't have been up to his higher standard in that situation.
Not knocking him for drafting out his matches at all, but there's no way he was going to walk in and give the more experienced, more over guys, instructions, so his matches were never going to reach the standard people might have expected.

It's possible that they could have had someone work with him, to get him up on the WWE style. Taker was pissed but why not pull DDP aside and explain to him, that wasn't how it worked here?

Yeah, what makes it even more confounding is that the guy gave up his guaranteed sweet contract and took less pay so he could come work for the WWE and was excited to be there. Mess with that guy for being excited!

Page would've lost every match but still a nicer burial than the Undertaker one.

DDP v. Austiin '98-'99 would have made a bajillion dollars.
