Everyone knows the Ultimate Warrior was a chore to work with and Raven is a dick to indie promoters and fans. What I’m curious about are stories about wrestlers who don’t have reputations for being unprofessional, but really should.
What made me think of this thread is a post on Reddit I saw about Rikishi. He was booked to main event an indie show. However when Match time came he just stayed seated at his merch table and refused to get up.
I really wish the OP of that story went into more detail. It just seems hilarious to me that Rikishi would just sit there while a whole crowd of people who want to see him wrestle are just standing around. It’s not like he could say he was injured or couldn’t make the show. He was sitting right there peddling mech lol.

Kind of off topic and don't mean to derail but I remember seeing a post before(not here) about why Mil Mascaras got a bad rep and the people who shit on him hardly wrestled him

My brother met Rikishi during Axxess, for WM29, and he told me that he acted like he didn't want to be there at all. (I didn't meet him). A guy had his 2 grandsons there, and one started to get dizzy, and fell down. EMT's had to help the kid. The people running the line assured them, that they wouldn't lose their spot. Like, if i was in line to meet him, and the kid got helped enough, they would let him go ahead. Rikishi wanted them to wait in back of the line again. That stuck with me, especially considering the kid is old enough to be my son.

This one is old but MSL from Major League Wrestling said that backstage during an Indy show, AJ Styles was calling everyone a homosexual slur.

Here's one that doesn't get on the radar a whole lot: Pat Tanaka. Dude was running a scam for years "selling" shows to would-be mark promoters, taking their money and bailing out of town before the marks realized the whole thing was a set-up.

I also loved that newspaper article someone did on him where he worked the reporter and she took everything at face value. It had things like him appearing regularly on TV as a child and beating grown men in shoot fights as a teen.

From back in his NWA Wildside days to his stint in TNA. I find it odd he doesn't catch as much crap for it as other wrestlers have. But I don't hear about the late Rosey having a bad rep. But from talking to the guy that use to be his booking agent it seems Rosey was a handful.

Didn't Tanaka also for years tell younger guys that for a fee he could get them booked in Japan? And it was all a scam?

Another one that - while he has a bad rep, it isn't nearly as bad as it probably should be - is Buzz Sawyer. By most accounts a bully, thief and general asshole, that part of him doesn't get mentioned nearly enough when his name comes up.

It seems much harder to get away with now due to social media.
In the past Davey "Davey Richards" Richards and Matt Sydal would have probably got away with loads more but now when they act like tools, they're called out publicly much quicker.
I dealt with unprofessional asses (both as a worker and when helping out friends running cards) in the past and I WISH Twitter or Facebook had been a thing then, because it makes it so much easier to know who to deal with, and to warn others who not to deal with.

Any interesting stories with name guys? This actually made me laugh out loud, largely because it suggested I ever worked with name guys. :-D Only name I ever saw (I was sitting across the dressing room) that could be accused was Alex Shane, not in dealing with me, but he was an ass to others. But then I think he's known as an ass anyway

Lol in the road warriors rf shoot they were talking about their days in Georgia and how everybody in the locker room was nice to them except Buzz Sawyer. Animal: Buzz was the only asshole. Hawk: Now he's a dead asshole.

Ive heard a couple of stories about Tessa Blanchard causing trouble backstage, the biggest one being in Stardom a couple of years ago where I think she kept picking fights with Aleister Black’s girlfriend and got her sent home from the tour. There’s also the time she allegedly was disrespectful to Victoria backstage and there were rumours she seemed very entitled at the MYC tapings.

There's gotta be a lot of truth to those stories, because I don't see any other reason she hasn't gotten a WWE/NXT deal yet. Solid hand in the ring, second generation, good look, it's been pretty much a lock for what seems like 18 or more months that her boyfriend was gonna sign. She must have attitude problems.

Tully was also a piece of shit backstage.

After reading recaps of old Observers, I'm inclined to believe Eddie Gilbert would have his career die out even if he hadn't passed given how consistently unreliable he was. Every other story about him seems to be him no-showing or flat out refusing to do jobs.

There’s also the time she allegedly was disrespectful to Victoria backstage and there were rumours she seemed very entitled at the MYC tapings. The guys I do video work with have ran into Tessa at 2 shows now. And yes she has attitude problems.Supposedly unless she thinks you can help her career she will blow you off. On the opposite end had heard that Ted Dibiase JR was a pain in the ass,met him 3 times now,and he is the total opposite of that. Super nice guy. Same with Teddy Hart. Had heard he was a asshole. Met him and he was one of the nicest guys I have met so far. Heidenreich is another that doesn't seem to have a bad rap. But is known for showing up and demanding the promoter pay him more money or he will leave. One show in Southern MS he showed up late, demanded the promoter pay him double what he was told he was getting. Then was told that wasn't happening. So Heidenreich went to the lockroom told a story about how he didn't have enough gas to get home, when he was at the most 20 minutes from where he lived at the time. The guys passed around a hat and he got 20 or 30 bucks. No idea if Masada has a bad rep. Ran into him one time so far and during his match he tried to grab my laptop and hit someone with it. I loudly told him no as he was reaching for it. And got called "A f***ing mark!" by Masada. Was surprised he didn't use the other F word since he is kinda known for using it.
