I remember he had an article in a wrestling magazine which gradually changed from explaining the business and psychology to weird philosophies and conspiracies.

People seem to be confusing rude for unprofessional. Rikishi sounds rude, but the guy was made wrestle in a thong. Sounds professional to me.

Trust me, Alex Shane is not that bad a guy. He genuinely wants all of British wrestling to succeed. First seminar we had with him he spent a lot of it talking about how the FWA was going to come back, wanted all British indies to sort of be like a feeder system to that. He showed us a book he had recently written, and that he had included a list of British wrestling promotions and where they’re located in the back.
His whole “5 minute match” exercise was “In WWE, most guys on TV get 5 minutes including entrances. Can you guys tell me a decent in ring story in 5 minutes?”. A lot of guys went over time. I know my match went over time by a minute or so.
Raven’s seminar was by far my favourite though even though he didn’t teach us anything physical. Funniest part was one of my friends posting in a group chat “can we not ask Raven any ECW questions and act like marks? We have an opportunity to learn from one of wrestling’s best minds”.

Yeah lol in the Davey Richards and Kevin Steen shoot they said that Alex offered them to stay in his home when they traveled to England, but they refused because they didn't want to talk to the crazy f*** and hear his bullshit conspiracies.

Buzz Sawyer does have a horrible rep He does to a degree, but not anywhere near the level it really should be. By all rights, he should be right there alongside Dynamite Kid as one of the biggest A-holes that ever worked the business. As it is, most people just pass it off as "Sawyer was crazy." After reading recaps of old Observers, I'm inclined to believe Eddie Gilbert would have his career die out even if he hadn't passed given how consistently unreliable he was. Every other story about him seems to be him no-showing or flat out refusing to do jobs. Gilbert's career was pretty much toilet waste by the time he died, hence why he was reduced to working Puerto Rico that week. WWF had zero interest in him, he was on the outs with multiple people in charge at WCW, as well as his falling out with Heyman and getting crossways with Lawler (again). He bailed on Cornette after one show. Doubt anyone in Japan would touch him after the stunt he and Doug pulled in W*ING. I consider Gilbert my idol, but I have to admit that by 1995, yeah...there wasn't much left for him in the business. If he'd lived, he might have found a home as a low end Saturday Night guy with WCW or found a way back into Lawler's good graces, but that was about all he had to look forward to.

I'm gonna echo Madison about Buzz Sawyer. I have yet to hear a story about him that doesn't portray him as anything other than a crazy asshole who deserved to toil in obscurity.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but didn’t he decide to go into business for himself after Kurt used his seniority as an excuse to brutalise a couple other Tough Enough contestants? Unprofessionalism shouldn’t be met with unprofessionalism, but was Puder supposed to just let himself be bullied as well because rasslin? Could understand where he’s coming from.

As I recall, they had them do a workout, then brought out Angle to have a shoot match with each of the contestants once they were worn out.

When I was wrestling, we had Rene Dupree work one of our shows. He turned up high as shit, worked with our guy who was doing an androgynous gimmick - cowboy hat, feather boas, light up glasses and everything. When he got backstage after, Dupree told him to “lay off doing the gay shit”. I met Raven when we booked him for a seminar. He didn’t do anything physical, but to just sit under his learning tree and get into his head and his opinions on ring psychology, it was awesome stuff. He was a nice guy. Also had seminars with Alex Shane - one where he talked for a few hours in ring psychology, took a shot at “Foley being a millionaire when he’s out of shape and can’t run the ropes”, paired us up and watched us have 5 minute matches, and made us uppercut brick walls for some reason. I know Alex Shane, enough to know that he's not the person to teach anyone lessons on wrestling psychology

I should've elaborated. Talking about that time when he was going over Bob Holly in a series of house matches and would call his friends after every match telling them how he beat Holly again, implying the matches were real and not worked.

Randy Savage. There are those stories about how much of a psycho he was towards Elizabeth. There was his cringeworthy run in later era WCW where he was broken down, on the juice, and unsafe to work with. There was also his post wrestling phase where he was so bitter and delusional, every time he had a microphone anywhere near him, he'd challenge Hogan to a legit fight, ultimately resulting in that embarrassing rap album. His insane bitterness is also why he never went into the HoF during his lifetime. It's very rare to see fans point these things out. I will give you the Elizabeth stuff, even though I've heard conflicting stories. Some just say he was really protective of her and she mostly just hanged out with girls like Sherri Martel, who talked about it in shoot interviews. Others say he locked her in closets at shows. If the last part is true, that is horrible, but some of those sources are highly questionable as most of them were out of their minds on drugs and booze, also there was jealousy in play. As far as the rest, Savage is one of the most universally loved people in the business. Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, and heck even the Ultimate Warrior all had nothing but great things to say about him. Those are three guys that never had a problem talking trash about someone they don't like. Most would also say, he was the definition of being a professional. Then there is Hogan. I've heard several people say that when Savage and Elizabeth were having marital problems she spent time with Hogan and Linda in Florida. There were rumors that Hogan and Linda tried to and possibly slept with her. Hearing some of the recent stories about Hogan, this has become even more believable. Either way, Savage was not happy about the situation and never forgave Hogan for it. But, back to being unprofessional, despite his divorce with Elizabeth leaving him broken for a long time, he still worked with Hogan in WCW. Of course he had pent up feelings, but he waited until after their working relationship ended. Also he did shoot on HHH and Stephanie, but the man was blackballed from WWE after being one of their biggest stars. There is an interview after his WCW run where he said he wanted to return to WWF, so I am sure it was heartbreaking to learn he could never work there again. The funny thing about all of this, is you never brought up Savage's most unprofessional moment, when he quit WWF.
