Austin Aries seems to get a lot of love from fans and especially from Gabe Sapolsky and he's always come off as Low Ki light backstage. Nobody, it seems except Gabe has ever enjoyed booking for him. He's got a rep with how he treats fans equal to CM Punk with nowhere near the status to back it up. He does have some talent but it is dwarfed by his ego. I've never been saddened to see him leave. EDIT Also there was this... I can't stand Aries and I think you're right, he is a dickhead, but I always took that Christy Hemme incident as him being in character and it coming off badly.

Brusier Brody. He is fondly remembered for being a great brawler and for the way he was murdered, but the guy held up more than his fair share of promoters, etc.

Specially Scott. The f***ing steroids killed what was left of his brain around 2000. Mark Madden told Lance Storm that during Steiner's entrances, the camera would cut away from him when he got close to the fans because they were legit scared he was gonna fight the fans. Steiner getting a pass and still being viewed positively by many is something I find unsettling. Huge sweeping generalisation alert, but it feels like if you put on some decent matches and shoot about people who have vocal dislike among fans (Hunter, Hogan, Bischoff, Flair) people will overlook a lot. People have too much sympy for this guy.

Dusty Rhodes is the Andy Reid of pro wrestling. Being fat and affable to the right people gets you a ton of slack. Can we turn this into a 'didn't quite make it at Spurs similie' thing. We need Wayne Routledge, Chris Gunter and Matthew Ethrington comparisons too. Stick Wilson Palacios and Callum Davenport in the mix and I'm interested

How about Ronnie Garvin taking liberties with the enhancement talent? Stiffing and stretching were common, as was putting his balls in their faces on pins.

The stuff that people said about how Savage treated Liz was definitely bothersome, but the rumor about him and Stephanie, I never took seriously at all. As far as I know, no one who would have been there has confirmed it or even implied it to be true. The timeline also doesn't make much sense for when it'd have supposedly happened. The rumor is not even remotely plausible. If the rumor was true, Vince would have tried to have Savage crippled or killed.

That all sort of goes with almost all of wrestling. There are very, very few "good people" in the business. Not all of them are murderers or the like, but most of them - if we look - have something they've done or said that should be very eye-raising.

Steiner just seems a particularly egregious example as he's a big name, seen as being the 'good guy' in personal feuds with those mentioned.

I think it’s more, to the fans, he’s basically a damn cartoon character, so the bad shit is kind of forgotten but not intentionally.

Any time you talk about WCW's locker room or toxic influences, Steiner comes up real quickly and nobody really tries to defend him at all. The fondness people have for him in the memes he's created don't really take away from peoples' perception of him as kinda shitty. I've always held that people held up as those everyone ignores the flaws of are more in kind of a position where people just don't bring up those flaws every time the person comes up unless there's new things to discuss there because you're kinda just derailing the thread otherwise.
