NBC looking to revive The Office

NBC is getting ready to put pen to paper on a revival of The Office.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Peacock network is eyeing a continuation of the beloved workplace comedy for the 2018-2019 season. The revival would once again be set at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton, PA., branch, and feature a mix of new and old cast members. Steve Carell, who starred as the branch’s regional manager, Michael Scott, for seven of the comedy’s nine seasons, will not be involved in the new series. The search for a new RM/boss is said to be already underway.

There's not really any point. There've been a bunch of Office-lites as it is. Just make an actual spinoff. It failed when they spun off Scrubs without owning up to that being what they were doing, I don't see this faring a ton better.
(I know it's tempting to call US The Office an Office-lite of the UK one, but it's such a different show once Michael Scott develops into someone very different than David Brent that it feels like calling American Football "Rugby with hats". That's not really an honest appraisal but a shit comparison at that point.)

I gave both the US and UK Office a chance. Neither worked for me. Which is odd cause I do like most of the cast of the US Office.

If you are dead set on doing a new "Office" pick a different kind of office/company. Like a regional office for a fictional fast food company. Or a shitty government office like a DMV or Engineer. Or a bunch of shitty people working in a call center.

Or go full batshit insane and have The Office set in some backwater Weyland-Yutani middle management office. Or an Imperial Recruitment Office in the slums of Coruscant. Or The Office is based on a private high school run by Ferris Bueller.

It was and so much better. I'm not one of those UK comedy snobs (It actually annoys Me when I hear people here say american comedy is shit then go on about how great rick and morty or always sunny is) as I enjoy a lot of american comedy but US office is way to on the nose and I've never been a Steve carral fan

I'm with you, I like The Office a lot but Parks and Rec is my favorite show of all time.

I feel like the folks on Parks and Rec seemed a ton more likable than The Office. For me, that's a big part of what did it.

As someone who thinks The Office is one of the greatest shows ever made, I quite liked The US Office. But one of the key reasons why the original is so good is because it follows the “less is more” philosophy. The US Office went on for too long as it is, leave it alone.
