Hey there,
I'd like to ask you trusty people of FAN whether or not this person I recently met likes me. Anyways, here's the story:
So, two weeks ago, I went to my local bank to finally open up a personal credit card account. To give context, I'm 25 now and I'm barely opening up an account because I wanted to wait until I felt like I had a stable and well-paying job to pay for said credit card(which I do now).
Anyways, when I got there and told the greeter what my intentions were; I was lucky enough to be helped by the young lady in question. To get right to it, I thought(and obviously still think) that she was really cute. So, naturally, I started putting the ol' TripleThreatMark charm on her. Seeing as though this was our first meeting; I didn't expect my flirting to go anywhere but went with it anyways, because What the Hell, right?
Well, to my surprise she seemed very receptive to it and started(or at least I think she started) flirting right back. She then started asking me some personal questions(like what I do for work, where I live, hobbies, etc) along with the questions she needed to ask to help me understand how the bank's credit card program works, what I may be eligible for, etc. I get that these personal questions don't mean much at first glance; my answers were probably also helping her understand which credit card would work best for me, etc. But, I noticed that she was staring at me and hanging on my every word when I gave my answers. It really wasn't one of those things where salespeople or accountants take down notes and don't look at you when you're giving them some details to help you.
I should also note that my flirting typically consists of dumb, cheesy self-deprecating jokes or dark, sarcastic quips. Suffice to say, she was giggling at all of my stupid jokes.
At the end of the first meeting, I agreed to come back a few days later to close the deal once I had some time to really go over each plan and see which one worked best for me. Anyways, she seemed really insistent to call her or e-mail her if I couldn't make our arranged meeting time a few days later. As I was leaving, she said that she was looking forward to seeing me again and that it was a pleasure meeting me. I know...typical customer service talk; but I dunno. I picked up a more enthusiastic tone in her voice than I usually get in similar situations.
So, fast forward a few days to the day I finalized opening my account. I showed up a few minutes early and was waiting at her desk when I was caught off-guard by her greeting. She seemed way too enthused(in my opinion) to see me again. Well, once we (literally) started getting down to business; it was more of the same as before. My jokey flirting and her (at least I think) eating it up. She even said to me, "Oh *my actual name*, youre so funny!" which was immediately followed by one of those soft, playful slaps to my arm.
Anyways, while she was opening the type of account I wanted, she asked me what I was going to do the rest of that day(It was Saturday). I mentioned that I was going Go-Karting and getting some track time in since it's one of my favorite hobbies. She immediately followed that up with, "Oh my God, I loooove Go-Karting!!!!" and told me about the last time she went, and asked where I usually go. I then mentioned that I was going to also watch the Disaster Artist after I went Go-Karting with some buddies. She then asked me to explain what the Disaster Artist was all about; so then I started talking about The Room and the book, etc. Again, she was just staring right through me and seemed really into what I was saying.
So, by the end of everything, she asked me if I had any questions before I left. I actually meant to ask her what my credit limit would be. I totally blanked in the moment; and awkwardly told her I'd get back to her once I remembered. She giggled and said to feel free to e-mail or call her once I remembered. I remembered what I wanted to ask her as soon as I had walked out if the bank. I didn't go back in because she had already returned to her designated teller box and I didn't want to bother her.
(Almost done here) Fast forward to this past Friday and I once again had to stop by the bank. I actually just went to withdraw some money and change my Debit Card PIN. I didn't know she was going to be there. As I was walking past the main entrance to go the ATM, I saw that she waved at me from the inside out of the corner of my eye. When I turned to see who was waving at me(The bank's doors are clear glass), I noticed it was her. I decided to walk in just to say 'Hey' and let her know that my card came through the mail that day; answered my credit limit question. Anyways, she quickly went out of her way to ask me what I needed help with. I told her and she was hanging around me while I was withdrawing the money I wanted(there's an ATM inside the bank as well). Anyways, I told her about my card arriving and what my credit limit/score is since all that info was enclosed in the paperwork that came with the card. She seemed(or at least pretended) to be impressed with what it turned out to be. Anyways, I made a joke about how with my job, I'm Uncle Moneybags(aka Monopoly Man) in my family and have to get everyone expensive gifts. I'm not sure if she was playing dumb or if she really didn't know, but she thought I was legitimately withdrawing money to buy my nieces/nephews gifts(Note: My sister has no children and doesn't intend on having any). I thought her confusion was super cute; when I explained my Uncle Moneybags joke, she giggled and playfully mentioned that maybe I should get her a gift too. I left soon after that and I have not been back since.
Anyways, while this may all seem well and good, I'm not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree or not. I say that because I have long standing self-esteem/self-loathing issues and I always get in my head;never do anything about crushes I have. Not to mention, that I noticed that this the lady in question is really friendly to customers in general and has good rapport with the regulars. However, I also noticed that said regulars are older people in their 50s/60s. Maybe that means something; maybe it doesn't. I'm not sure. Also, I'm not sure if associates/tellers like her get commissions/bonuses for opening up new credit accounts. Thus, I'm also thinking that she might have just strung me along to get her job done knowing that I've been flirting with her. Then again...I have this gut feeling that maybe there really is more to our interactions other than just being flirty to do her job.
So yeah, what do you think, FAN? Is my gut right or am I just being a dumb-dumb putting too much thought into this?
I should also mention that I plan on stopping by the branch this Friday to give her a 10 or 20 dollar Starbucks gift card for all her help(She really did make everything easy for me and she was super helpful every step of the way; outside of our flirty exchanges). I was also thinking of putting a note in the envelope I plan to give the gift card in with my personal cell number and asking if she'd like to hang out sometime.
So yeah, sorry about the long post. Here's the TL;DR version:
Went to local bank to open up a credit card account. Got help from a really cute lady and began flirting. Said lady has also been flirting(I think) in all our interactions. Unsure if she might be interested or if she is just being polite because it's part of her job.
