Having been a fan of wrestling since '99, I grew up watching PPVs on VHSes borrowed from friends with Sky or the bastardised versions that Channel 4 put up before they stopped that entirely.
Having the Network, to me, is still an absolute novelty. I can watch all the PPVs. To me, that still feels pretty special, and when you stick to just watching YouTube clips and the PPVs, the product is actually still pretty great.
It's also been a long time since WWE has put out a PPV that was genuinely shitty from top to bottom as far as I'm concerned, even some of the worst ones have been entertaining for the wrong reasons (hello, Punjabi Prison).
NXT, which I do watch on a weekly basis, is a lower-stakes, more relaxed, more fun product that's got more in common with a smaller indie or the old territory days. It doesn't over-expose its talent and you get to see the genesis of some really great stuff on there sometimes.
But even ignoring that, there are just too many guys that I like who manage to make things entertaining regardless of how bad the product is around them. The roster these days is stacked, and these guys are just too talented to not entertain me somehow. Sheamus, Cesaro, Styles, Owens, Zayn, Bryan, Nakamura, there are so many guys who just manage to do something great even in the midst of something terrible.
And every now and then, there are those perfect moments when everything just clicks and they put on an amazing show, and I'm reminded why I started watching wrestling in the first place.

Because I refuse to miss my favorites and I don't care how bad the show is (most nights, anyway).

Even though the writing is dreadful, they might have the overall best roster ever.
Come to think of it, that kind of makes the bad writing more depressing, knowing so many good wrestlers aren't being used to their full potential.
I tend to find at least a few angles and feuds that are enjoyable at any time, which makes me able to sit through the bad stuff. I was just about ready to ignore WWE completely, but then AJ Styles won the title last month, which rekindled my interest. Plus the Royal Rumble is coming up soon, which is my favorite PPV (too bad it's the first one of the year, sometimes it feels like it's downhill after that).
