Pizza Hut is probably the worst major chain, but it is very region dependent. The ones in the Detroit area were actually pretty good (or I just don't remember them correctly because I mainly ate there as a kid) Little Caeser's tastes like home to me, growing up in Metro detroit. It isn't great pizza, but you can't beat the price. Dominos has been a LOT better since they revamped everything a few years back. Their price is actually great too if you do the two medium pizzas for 12.99 (or whatever it is) deal. Papa Johns is way expensive without a coupon. The 50% off when your local sports team deal makes it pretty okay for okay pizza, though I stopped ordering from there entirely when Dominos upped their game. The biggest knock against the Pizza Huts here were that it was really greasy. Taste-wise, it wasn't horrible. With Dominos, you get what you pay for, basically. But Papa Johns is both more expensive than either of those two places (and a lot of local places on that note) and tastes worse than either. I don't get how they stay in business around here.

My observation is that perception sometimes becomes reality. The idea that, because its expensive, it must be good resonates with people due to the predisposition that quality is better the more costly it is. Like, its garbage pizza, but because a meal for 6 is $32+, it has to be good.

I had Papa Johns last year when I was in New York and holy shit it had to be the worst Pizza I've ever had. Even Little Caesars and the shitty cardboard tasting Pizza that 7-11 sells was better than that. You were in New York & had Papa Johns pizza ? It was only thing I could find at 2am after a night of hard drinking. That and honestly I found NY Pizza to be vastly overrated.

Thing is, Papa Johns stacks the savings heavily on ordering online & the success of sports teams. Most people typically just order from the phone.

Disney should buy it and rebrand it as Pizza Planet, with restaurants just like the one in Toy Story.

I think I've only had Papa John's once in my entire life. Must've been pretty unremarkable since I don't even remember if I liked it or not and hearing how douchey the guy is has given me no inclination to try it again.
