What are some moments where it would have made perfect sense for someone to go heel or face, in response to something that happened in a match or angle?
Example 1: I watched WrestleMania 3 again last night, and it still irks me that the Killer Bees weren't furious with Jim Duggan for costing them their match by blasting Sheik with the 2x4.
Example 2: Jeff Jarrett after Owen Hart's death. His emotional taped speech the night after made him completely real and sympathetic to the fans and seemed to set him up for a face run, but a week later he was back to his old self.

Ted Jr was getting a lot of crowd support and then I believe it was a match on Raw when the crowd was really hot in a match up against Randy and it seemed he was about to snap and finally turn face but they had Randy beat him, which later led to Randy turning face after Ted and Cody turned on him.
I think there was money in turning Cena heel against The Rock in Miami for their once in a lifetime match. With the whole āembrace hateā bullshit he did with Kane, and all the circumstances around it they had an opportunity to pull the trigger which would have at least made the rematch make sense

Two come to my mind right off:
Roman Reigns should have gone full heel after this past year's Wrestlemania. The crowd wasn't going to like a man that blemishes the Undertaker and Roman was already carrying himself like a cocky prick going into the match and the night after.
Buff Bagwell should have stayed a face (for a while) after returning from his broken neck. He seemed to be getting some cheers before immediately throwing all away with that turn on Steiner. I think the crowd would be in for a Buff redemption story before we remember he was Buff Bagwell.

Seth Rollins coming back from his injury to big face reactions but still trying to be a heel. Then, they actually tried to turn him a few months later and it fell flat on his face due to execution and them waiting way too long to pull the trigger.

Possibly the one time a wrestler should have turned, but didn't that was so bad it ruined his career. |

It did serve for a good heel turn with Randy tho when he was freshly face and they had that promo where Randy literally said nothing and the fans loved him while Edge was pissed Randy was getting cheered despite him trying to murder people On the flip side, his war against everything stupid was fun |

I think the crowd would be in for a Buff redemption story before we remember he was Buff Bagwell. This is honestly probably the biggest missed face-turn opportunity of the 90s. Bagwell was a long-tenured homegrown star who WCW fans watched slowly rise up and evolve. He was such a great loathsome heel, the only thing that could possibly give him some empathetic semblance of humanity was a near-fatal injury like the real one he suffered. Perfect catalyst for a face turn, especially considering Marcus Bagwell had been on-screen for, what, seven years at that point? This could have been what made him a main eventer. Imagine him with full fan support and his ability (in 98) to still put on great matches being the one to take the world title from Nash after he beat Goldberg and ultimately defeating the nWo. |

Rollins turning face because HHH cheated for someone else made him come across really whiney. |

Tomko in TNA in I think 2005; he was getting big pops from the fans, they wanted to see him turn on Christian and he swerved back to heel again, idiotically.

Once WWE saw there was legs in an Orton face turn, that was it. Cody and Ted acting as the cocky heels works but that face turn would have been some good momentum for them. In the end, Ted was always going to have a gimmick to fall back on while Cody did the right thing and thought outside the box. |

I think a great time to turn John Cena heel, would have been right around Wrestlemania 30. Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and the Shield were all white hot. John Cena was out since Summerslam with that arm injury.
What happened: Cena returns and beats Del Rio for Big Gold
What should've happened: Cena loses to Del Rio after coming back too early and getting his arm re-injured. He blames Daniel Bryan for having to rush back from injury to save WWE from sliding "B+ ratings" and then joins the Authority as a mega corporate heel. Bryan feuds with Cena after Wrestlemania.
