i was always a fan of the Mighty Hercules. Anyone else a fan? What are some of your favorite Hercules moments.
I remember a promo that he cut on one of the PPVs where he was talking like he was actually Hercules from 2000 years ago.
An underrated power wrestler IMO.

He's actually one of the guys I liked a LOT more as I got older. Solid power guy, who could cut an okay promo when he wanted to.

He had a lengthy, mostly memorable run but I think he was doomed from the start. More emphasis should've been put on him as being a real life Hercules from the old times. He also should've had a WrestleMania 2 win against someone other than Steamboat and they needed to keep the original outfit. That thing was so cool and set him apart. They already paid money to make the outfit so why not stick with it? And with Heenan it seem like every other family member was more important than Hercules. Overall I think he had a good run but definitely could've been bigger for a guy with his size and look.

A neat little thing about Herc is that outside of the two specials (No Holds Barred and This Tuesday in Texas), he was on every single PPV card from the time of his arrival (Wrestlemania 2) to his departure (between Royal Rumble '92 and Wrestlemania 8). Every single one. Very few others can claim that from that time period. A lot come close, but not quite.
Never understood his WCW Super Invader gimmick. I mean, I know they were trying to hide that it was just another tired WWF midcarder, but that was a horrid solution.

I wish WWE had picked up home and Scott Norton when they were rumoured to be coming in. Plenty of bloke in that team.

I think he did that at Wrestlemania III, talking about pulling down pillars in ancient Rome. I've always wanted to go back and watch his Mid South stuff.

Always love the story Cornette tells about the time in Mid South, Herc is going to the ring and some fan tried to jump him. The police grab the fan and drag him behind the curtain. So the fan is sitting backstage next to some Barney Fife looking cop as Cornette, Eaton and Condrey are getting ready for their match up next.
Condrey looks at the fan and says "I would beat you up myself, but nothing I can do is going to be as bad as what Hercules will do when he gets back here". The fan starts sweating bullets.
Herc eventually comes back and as he steps through the curtain, the fan stands up and says "Geez mister, i'm awfully-", he didn't get to finish his sentence as Herc walks up and slaps the fan so hard the fan hits his head on the wall behind him before hitting his head on the ground. So in less than a second it was bing, bang, boom.
Herc keeps walking, the fan is on the ground, the Barney Fife cop is standing there, Midnight Express music starts playing, so Cornette, Eaton and Condrey step over the fan to get through the curtain. They come back after the match and the fan is still on the ground as 5 more police officers just stand around him.
Cornette asked Herc "Why did you slap him?", to which Herc replied "Well, I didn't want to hurt the guy."

Yeah, it was one of the early running jokes on OSW Review that Herc somehow got a spot on every one of the WWF PPVs.

I think that was Wrestlemania III where he told Billy Jerk Haynes that he would cower at Hercules' feet, like Samson and Atlas in ancient times. It was awesome. I also loved Power and Glory's destruction of the Rockers at Summerslam 90. Their finishing move was beautiful.

My favorite bit about Herc is that if you watch all of his PPV matches, he slowly, but surely gives a little bit less of a shit at each one. His body starts to get a little worse and he effort in the ring slowly gets to a level of. It caring at all.
Was never a fan of his individual work, but the Powerplex is my favorite tag team finishing move. Wish they would've got a longer run.

I don't know if I would say that as Summerslam 90 through Royal Rumble 91 was probably his best stretch PPV wise. Power and Glory rejuvenated him for a bit as he was putting more effort in the ring and he looked better physique then he did during his face run where he was starting to look real bloated. However yeah starting at Mania VII when their push was halted, he definitely stopped giving a crap, looking terrible the ring. He also looked so weird with his beard shaved. Made him look like a roided up Jake Roberts. If I'm not mistaken other then Hogan he was the only wrestler to appear in every PPV in a wrestling capacity from Mania 2 to Rumble 92 (not including No Holds Barred and Tuesday in Texas specials). If your just going by appearance only and not just wrestling at every one then Savage would be the only other as he didn't wrestle at Survivor Series 90, Summerslam 91, and Survivor Series 91 but had interviews and his wedding at those shows. It's kind of odd that such a lowercard type guy like Herc would have that accomplishment. He was never really a priority so you would think at one point he would've got left off one likely a Summerslam as that was the only big four PPV that wasn't an all hands on deck deal where they needed as many bodies as possible.

He was shit. Sorry. He did produce one of my favourite promos though: "Listen to me real good, I'm going to win this rumble royal..." Dunno why he put on an cod Irish accent for it though.
Powerplex was great. Power and Glory was the best mashing of two terrible wrestlers into something useful.

As someone else already stated, his early PPVs were where he was big but not super-ripped; that would start to happen around the 1987/88 era when he got jacked. He didn't really start going completely to crap until after P&G were moved from high midcard feuds to jobbers in the 90s and that's when he just gave up.

Herc taking the pin but still no-selling Sid's powerbomb on his last appearance in the company remains my favourite "I really don't give a shit any more" moments in wrestling.

Didn't he still have one match after that, a rumble or battle royal where Hogan just dumped him right the f*** out of the ring? Guessing if I am remembering right, the logic was that even if he was ready to leave, Herc still wouldn't try something with Hogan, out of either respect, Hogan being able to take him if he did, or Herc not being a level of apathetic to not realize that stiffing Hogan would be a death sentence to gainful employment in wrestling.

He had a pretty good look, I loved the chain. He always appeared to have a sunburn though. Dude was bubblegum pink.
Shame they never gave him something like KOTR to work with. I actually wouldn't mind seeing him in the HOF although his actual merits may be lacking slightly.

Heenan told a story, and so did Prichard, so I don't know if he did it alot or Bruce stole the story, but Heenan and Herc were outside the hotel waiting on the cab or whatever and there's all these business men. Herc is standing there in his sweats, a cut on his head and a bandage on the opposite side of the cut. There's all these guys in suits waiting as well. There's a button that says "Push for Heat" and when you pushed it, these coils would heat up and keep you warm. So Herc reads the button aloud to these guys in suits, "Push for Heat. What happens when you press it? Does a guy run out and hook the tights?" And then leaves them there, bewildered as hell.
